Eventually even many passionate fans left as well and all that is left today is a soulless husk. A shadow of its former glory.

I can safely suggest that FFXIV is likely to go the same way if recent rends continue. Do you really think those of us who have seen this song and dance before can't see the exact same issues arising here?

If people didn't care about FFXIV then they wouldn't speak up about how it can improve - and before the inevitable 'gotcha' arises, the development team do not need to take every bit of advice on board. However it's pretty clear that they're pretty far removed from player tastes given how things like the housing lottery and Hrothgar hairstyles have been playing out.
This is exactgly what happened with the launch of 1.0. SE not listening to the playerbase from telling SE its not ready for launch to simply not listening to feedback it until it was too late. Sad thing, this is apology gave to us for the second anniversary on the 18th floor. How they failed to listen to the fans of the game and how they were not going to let that happen in the future. Don't get me wrong Yoshi save FFXIV but its about to come full circle and repeat what happened.

Open World PvP is dead in WoW. PvP servers are just gankfests/ganging up on players minding their business. Not to mention with Dragonflight, it's very easy to just... avoid PvP, which players do on PvP servers unless they have an unfair advantage or numbers on their side. That's why almost all PvP servers are either massively in favor of one faction over the other - population-wise.

Dueling isn't a big thing anymore due to classes being unbalanced. No one wants to duel, say... a Ret Paladin, as they will destroy nearly every class in 1 vs 1.

No one raids major cities anymore. I haven't seen a Major city raided since Classic to Cataclysm. With everyone in Valdrakken, why would anyone attack Orgrimmar or Stormwind? Not to mention that the gear/rep/M+ grind takes up a LOT of time, so players aren't just gonna group up anymore and raid a Major City when they get nothing out of it. Not to mention that being able to Fly kills the spirit of City Raids too.

They haven't gotten a new Battleground in YEARS. Let that sink in. Not to mention that Battlegrounds are extremely unbalanced and after the first week, they're just a place for overgeared players to farm honor off less geared players.

Arena? The population doing arena has dropped drastically as players would rather farm World Quests, Raid, or do the toxic M+ gameplay. Very few seriously play Arena anymore, most are just buying carries which Blizzard allows in Trade Chat. M+ and Raids can have carries sold in Trade chat too, as this promotes players buying WoW Tokens to afford it. That's why Blizzard no longer bans carries and let's them be openly advertised.

No, I wouldn't want any of that in FF14.
.. When was the last time you actually played WoW? 'Cause most of what you said isn't true. (Except for the city raid, no reason to, and most people are in Valdrakken - How you gonna raid that? lol)

Open World PvP is very much alive, the pvp gear syncs as soon as you're in combat with another person open world or in an instance. The whole idea of the new PvP changes in Dragonflight were to allow equal opportunity PvP while allowing the PvP gear grind to be transferrable to PvE ilvl instead.

    Also yeah, "PvP Servers"

Not that I necessarily need any of that in XIV, but come on. Use facts.

There's literally nothing wrong with that. I have a few friends that do exactly that. They buy the expansion, play the new story content and then they unsub. Just because its an MMO doesn't mean everyone has to treat it as the one and only game they play non-stop.
Yep lets just continue to encourage them putting out half baked content because your friends like to take 2 year long breaks. Go join your other unsubber friends in Zelda with Yoshi P.

Yoshi-P already has an ego now, and the players aren't doing it any favors. It's exactly the problem they had from 1.0. You carry that ego forward, thinking you can't fail and then that's how we ended up with ARR to begin with.

They literally said they had to reorg because they thought they were infallible due to prior successes, and failed because of it. Literally believing everything they make, no matter how bad, will always be gold. But were keen to forget how much effort and skill it took, as if just having a well-known director could accomplish anything.

It's exactly why Nomura is a joke now, the same issue. Yoshi-P is falling in line.

How ignorant you must be to seriously believe that game studios that make multiple games dont ever use their gains to budget themselves and other projects. Acting as is FFXIV is the only game in the genre that does this.

Also people keep twisting the narrative that the entire FFXIV team worked on FFXVI which isnt true at all.
As if they're using the budget to produce any content in FFXIV. Roll out the recolor enemies, mounts, gear, and any other asset we can re-use boys! Put a new lick of paint on it and call it fresh content! They'll love it! Apparently they can't even afford to keep NA servers running smoothly either with "Backbone server issues." causing weekly crashes. The only hot garbage is coming from the people who huff the copium in defense of this lazy nonsense.

You clearly don't understand what the backbone is. Its not controlled by SE. Its not even really servers. The backbone of the internet is the links of Tier3 ISPs that link other ISPs together. Its the main links across the US/world. Those are what have issues. Outside SE's control.

    lol.

The cool thing about Dragonflight is that not only the pvp aspect is linked to endgame gearing but so is almost everything else you do in endgame. Although more options are good and I enjoy this, I also feel perhaps its too bloated and confusing at times, which FFXIV much more streamlined endgame gearing wins favor in that aspect.

You have more stuff to do but for the casual player, they'd most likely just reach to lfr ilvs and call it a day, which only takes about a couple of days or so to accomplish.

I will say this you do see a lot more players in the open world compared to FFXIV which is good. Im still hoping the game will deliver on that someday.

As Iyrnthota said, it's the people who give the "game is dying, nothing to do, no longevity" comments that are mainly getting the "then why don't you unsub" responses. Maybe they've given constructive feedback elsewhere but they aren't in the threads where they're being told to unsub.

It doesn't change the value of "if you are unhappy, then unsub for a while" as advice. Once you've given your constructive feedback, repeating it isn't going to get things to change overnight. It takes time. Why keep spending the money while you wait for change to happen if you won't be playing?

If you're concerned about a house you own, you can still unsub for 6 weeks then resub so you can enter your house to reset the timer. If necessary, repeat. Or you can let it go and worry about getting another house later if the game ever returns to a state you are interested in. That's a fair amount of money being spent to keep a house in a game that you may never like again depending on what decisions the developers make.
Well done to ignore the whole point again. The lack of longevity is what's wrong with the content structure, the move to one and done type of content. How many times do you need it explained it to you? There needs to be content with actual longevity in an MMO that's just how it works. Now we've got none so the community has to make the content with the venues and RP and whatnot. People have to find ways to squeeze their money's worth out of the game as the devs are not providing it right now.

FF16 will be a huge success. It looks great and will probably be GOTY material and get a 90/91 on Metacritic.

I pray that does not just spell further arrogant indolence from the devs.
