Not really. Not to the point where I'm making threads kvetching about it on the daily while rewriting the whole story as fanfiction of my personal unrelated videogame and calling it all "feedback" and "constructive crtiticism".
Yes it would be nice if I could get my dream game perfectly catered to me but at a certain point we have to accept that if FFXIV works for millions of people even during a content drought then it works.
Something I also seen people do that seem real fun is to calculate exactly how much you should gear up to have stats equivalent to min iLvl, and go into old EX/Savage unsync, so you have full level 90 kits but otherwise you have correct stats for that content, it obviously makes it much easier than proper sync min iLvl cuz Shiva EX was never meant to eat a Communio, but it lets them experience old fights with funner kits rather than having to deal with level 50/60/70/80 kits.
Yes and no. I think we are all happy if we get more content akin to our tastes sure, but I think many also understand that no MMO can please everyone all the time, and there is better ways to express what we would like to see then belittling others and declaring ourselves the better storytellers/game designers etc.
Nintendo.... Power? You dare invoke the Deep Magics to me? I was there when it was written!Oh I can one-up this. Back in my day, we got tips and hints for games from things like Nintendo Power! And Game Informer! Which arguably wasn't that big a time jump. Since NP started in 1988, Prima Games in 1990, and GI in 1991.
Suffice to say...this joke has made me feel ancient because god...1988 feels like it was 75 years ago, not 35.
I know you've gotten a lot of responses already, but I would certainly posit that it does. Everyone wants to see content that appeals to them, and it just so happens that some are inevitably going to feel neglected by what is released. Such is simply the unavoidable way of things, I should think.
Modern XI is trash though... You haven't experienced true XI till you played in the CoP/ToAU era. Even then though, I wouldn't call XI's combat "deep" when all you do is stare at the screen watching auto attacks 90% of the time. Do people even do magic bursts anymore? That entire design died during the games peak as spamming TP burn parties were way more effective (my LS could down Kirin in 30 seconds. It was kind of stupid)well FFXI is less grindy than before, but I started FFXI three years ago and Im kind of mad at myself I didn't start this amazing game first than XIV, the jobs are amazing with each their own image instead of a carbon copy like XIV jobs and i love how deep the combat system is and doing skillchains or magic bursts with your fellow team mates to do more damage than filling up a mindless gauge do do one limit break which is always DD doing
Also I'm not stuck with the boring ass sicons every expansion, I get to meet new people in every expansion and yeah I will see familiar faces like shantotto or Lion but they don't overstay their welcome like the scions do ( looking at you Ystola, or the male twin)
is FFXIV even considered a RPG when all the RPG elements are like gone from the game? it's more of a dress up, second life, night club social game like IMVU
anyways I'm having a great time with XI, Vana'diel is my home
you build TP fast at endgame but you still need to pay attention in the battles for example I'm a dancer, In Dynamis D runs, I use Haste Samba, Steps like Quick Step to lower the monster's evasion so my team mates can hit the target better and not miss as well as Box Step to lower the Defense of the mob, if the healer is struggling I will help put out a Devine Waltz 2 to help heal. you also have to watch out for NIN at 50% or lower HP because they can blow up, so better have your magic Evasion set / Damage Taken set on so you don't die lolModern XI is trash though... so no I'm not just auto attacking, I'm actively engaging, debuffing, Supporting and healing to help my teammates and for me to survive in content.
Yes people do Magic Bursts especially in Omen and Vagary which is endgame content.
I also play WHM/SCH with Yagrush and working on my second mythic weapon
