Oh, I don't disagree. I'm lucky enough to own a large house myself so contrary to what some like to imply it isn't just 'jealousy' that drives criticism of the housing system. Yoshi-P seems to stubbornly insists on clinging to the 'neighbourhood feel' as justification for its current implementation but I do suspect your own outlined reasoning is the true cause. The memory used for apartments and island sanctuary could easily have been used to implement personal housing as a compromise.

That being said, given how unlikely it is for someone to regain a lost medium or large house I suspect a decent chunk of people losing them don't bother subscribing to the game again out of frustration.
