Once purchased, the owner can take a break for months or even years and return to the game to find everything perfectly intact.

This is all about the money, they dont care about housing one bit, but they know how to milk the money from it, and its a success because it works

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm lucky enough to own a large house myself so contrary to what some like to imply it isn't just 'jealousy' that drives criticism of the housing system. Yoshi-P seems to stubbornly insists on clinging to the 'neighbourhood feel' as justification for its current implementation but I do suspect your own outlined reasoning is the true cause. The memory used for apartments and island sanctuary could easily have been used to implement personal housing as a compromise.

That being said, given how unlikely it is for someone to regain a lost medium or large house I suspect a decent chunk of people losing them don't bother subscribing to the game again out of frustration.

I agree, I assume most people that care about housing, after losing their favorite plots will just end up quitting the game all together, except if they really have a lot of friends keeping them in the game or perhaps a partner that wants to keep playing the game, but aside from those reasons yeah the best solution is to quit because you'll bang your head agaisnt a wall for years to get any large, let alone if you have a favorite one you want

Thats on them then, not on the game. I had a small personal on Kujata, Kallor Cottage, now I have an FC small in literally the same plot as the original. Its still a house, it still has a workshop and its still my home on Kujata...before you comment...look at it this way.

Noticing abnormally high likes in this thread, the kind we don't get in general discussion in a thread like this. I sense a certain negative nancy has brought his posse. And I really only say that because when the threads devolve to this point, likes do not really accrue in THOSE numbers.

Allow me to offer an alternative explanation. An expansion's worth of decline in all aspects of the game has displeased and driven out much of the playerbase. My friends have since moved on and are unlikely to ever return after Endwalker's poor showing and I was surprised that Theodric took the time to voice his thoughts here again after what looked to be an indefinite absence.

Of the players that remain there are those who wish to see improvements. It isn't unreasonable to suggest that they have grown frustrated due to the same individuals employing tactics that hinder discussion of issues that have arisen this expansion. There has been far too much baseless speculation for my taste anyway, and not enough done by whoever is in charge these days to course correct.

The pillars that held this game up came crashing down one after another after a wrecking ball was taken straight to each. At least even in times of content drought we had the promise of a great story, but now this is what the public thinks of the game after I explained how fully off the rails the writing became in 6.0. Shockingly, those of us who were here mistakenly believing we were going to get a satisfying conclusion and were averse to plots that went full anime nonsense weren't pleased by a certain pair of characters that were singled out as writers favorites.
