I think a fair point is that we don't have Exploration content this time - if you include Diadem, this is the first time since ARR we didn't have an Exploration Zone thing, which can be grindy (Eureka) or kind of bland (Bozja) to people, but it gives people things to work on during content droughts.
We're definitely seeing that, with patches being 2-4 weeks longer AND no "busywork" content like that, that the droughts feel a lot worse to a lot of players.
In ShB, if I did everything in the "main" game content (I didn't do any raiding until EW, though I did Extremes - been playing since ARR, btw - so Savage and Ultimates aren't the answer; even now that I dabble in Savages to get my other ring slot filled, I don't do it a lot and don't do Ultimates), I then could grind out Eureka and/or Bozja. Now, I have a lot less to get from those things, so do them much less and...there's not a modern EW version to waste my time in. And the patches are longer before new stuff comes out. And the non-raid parts of patches are delayed for 4-6 WEEKS for the X.Y5 patches for god only knows what reason instead of coming with the patch launch and the raid stuff being pushed to the X.Y5 so that we can keep doing the other stuff. Sure it caters to raiders this way so they can focus on their raiding BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US??
I'm not sure why they made the changes they made, but I DO feel like they were bad choices.
My biggest hope for 7.X is that they realize what a mistake this was and go back to having Exploration content, starting it early in both the patch cycle (ideally 7.1, but maybe 7.2), don't push non-raid stuff to the X.Y5 patches, and just generally let us have more busywork/grindy stuff to do during these longer patches when we kind of run out of things to do otherwise. And I'm one of the white knights here, but even I feel this was a mistake.
