A ton of people love this because they already have a backlog of games to play, or they like free-to-play games like Genshin and Destiny. So for only $13 a month, they can play all the other games they want for free. Playing other games is the biggest draw for many FFXIV players: they get the best gameplay from their other games while also having social prestige from being in the “it” crowd online.

FFXIV has become more like a lifestyle brand than a video game. Much of the new “content” is in the form of microtransactions, merch, and sundry entertainment like conventions and live performances.

This must be Aether, nice, based on someone else posting what Crystal looks like at least 1 out of the 4 datacenters has life in it.

It's beyond impressive. I've never seen anywhere near that many high-end groups at once on Crystal, much less prog groups, three months into a patch, four days into the week. The list doesn't even show that many 7th/8th groups either, so there must be a large variety.

The real question is: why does the Quest Battles section exist at all?

Maybe it's just because I'm on Aether, but when the 1 - 49 dungeon shows up in the Wonderous Tails I usually choose Haukke because I like the aesthetic of it and it's an easy run and I usually have no trouble getting the DF to fill it. Not sure why they are using the PF for something that the DF is better suited for and even designed to fill, since it will pull in anyone that queued for levelling or mentor roulette.

Out of curiosity, any reason to do the run Sync'd, when I get 1-49 on WT, I just unsync Aurum Vale, it is shockingly one of shortest dungeons in the game despite being rather rough on-level, so when you overpower everything, you can easily get it done in about a minute and a half, sometimes less assuming I don't mess up anything because I wasn't paying attention.

People seem to really enjoy it too. They even defend the game at all costs when people ask for more content in here because they don't want it.

The point that most people don't understand how to read PF and so didn't catch that the OP had only Dungeons selected instead of all instanced duties?

There were enough PF listings to fill the screen, the OP choose not to display them.

That others are enjoying it but you aren't should be a clear message. The game has moved away from what you currently want from a game.

It's not likely to change back - participation metrics are going to be telling developers that players are mainly engaging with X content and so they're going to focus on that content to keep those players engaged.

It's up to you to decide if what little you still enjoy in the game is worth the $15/month (or whatever you're paying).
