    That's because Aether has the reputation as the raid DC and now its a self fulfilling prophecy. The reason raiders go to Aether is because raiders go to Aether. Same reason roleplayers go to Crystal.

    And majority of the ffxiv streamers play on aether so people want to be on the same DC as those streamers as well.
