Try finding people to play anything with. Sometimes it's about the company and not the activity.
Or maybe take a break from games completely and do something new irl.

To be fair, meeting people in this game, and actually making friends, really seem to be an impossible task most of the time, if not at all the time, I noticed that even more after my relationship ended and I tried to spend time in the game, FFXIV is very clique-y, just like most MMO's really, and its very hard to have a place in an already made group of friends, same as IRL, I have thought about quitting a lot because I just log in and see most people already busy, or doing content and you eventually shrug and log off because there is literally no one to hang out with
When it comes to FFXIV, I have the same experience as you do. But I do play other games and have multiple groups of friends that I've met over time throughout years. So it's a little bit easier for me on this part.To be fair, meeting people in this game, and actually making friends, really seem to be an impossible task most of the time, if not at all the time, I noticed that even more after my relationship ended and I tried to spend time in the game, FFXIV is very clique-y, just like most MMO's really, and its very hard to have a place in an already made group of friends, same as IRL, I have thought about quitting a lot because I just log in and see most people already busy, or doing content and you eventually shrug and log off because there is literally no one to hang out with
You took the words right out my mouth. It's why I end up playing solo. Most people you meet seem to have fake personalitiesTo be fair, meeting people in this game, and actually making friends, really seem to be an impossible task most of the time, if not at all the time, I noticed that even more after my relationship ended and I tried to spend time in the game, FFXIV is very clique-y, just like most MMO's really, and its very hard to have a place in an already made group of friends, same as IRL, I have thought about quitting a lot because I just log in and see most people already busy, or doing content and you eventually shrug and log off because there is literally no one to hang out with

It is what you make of it. I found my oldest friends from my coil raid groups. I've known them for 9ish years know. We still play the game and hang out outside, and I've met them irl a couple times.
I think the issue with this is that then I'd depend on said people to have fun and I have lived through this before, its not healthy for either parties.
I feel like its more healthy to play the game together because you both find it fun, like I do with my gf in destiny 2. I dont need her to log in but feel way better when we play together.

You know, you are not wrong about this, especially if there is not a mix of friends to play with, relying only on one specific one. Relying on them too much can get to be too much for the person and make you a pest.I think the issue with this is that then I'd depend on said people to have fun and I have lived through this before, its not healthy for either parties.

I kind of have this with my game wife Aria, one game BFF above all others. But because of my Raiding and EX parties to keep me busy, I am fine if she is not around to hang out with. Even if she is I might be busy in a hard instance to have time to be with her, and she's fine with that too as she does her own thing.
