Y’all will see 4 tank, 4 healer, 5 melee, 3 caster, 3 physical ranged and really go “we need 5 tanks and 6 melee” with your whole chest.

I agree with your point on tanks, but melee job distribution is based on gear, not role. We currently have 2 maiming, 2 striking, and 1 scouting. We're pretty much due for another scouting job unless ROG/NIN get merged into a different gear set. Considering the amount of gear they'd end up just removing though, I'm doubtful that will happen
That said, I don't necessarily think we "need" another scouting, but I think we're going to get one
I personally think RPR should have been a scouting job. Maiming gear doesn't fit it's aesthetic in the slightest, but oh well

What I'm guessing will happen is there will be adjustments to the melee gear arrangements. Especially if another melee is introduced that uses the scouting set. It'll all get streamlined so that accessories are no longer shared by multiple roles. This would mean that NIN no longer uses aiming, and DEX will no longer be their primary stat. It also means slaying accessories go away, or all of melee DPS will now use them. One of those two. The dev team has no issues with removing gear, and will likely feel that it is necessary considering how cluttered the accessory armory space is for players who play jobs from all roles. They will let players know of this well in advance to 7.0 during the LL that introduces what the new job will be so they are aware and can make the proper preparations.I agree with your point on tanks, but melee job distribution is based on gear, not role. I see where you are coming from on that one. But I also know they have them all lumped together on the official website. It doesn’t have all the melee split by gear and they all do share the same role actions.I agree with your point on tanks, but melee job distribution is based on gear, not role. I hope, for everyone’s sake, they just shake up how bad having the umpteen different melee gear sets are split. In a raid scenario, we only have 4 dps spots available, adding another melee to the already overcrowded melee roster sounds horrendous.
But I am also biased and think that we need another caster no matter what since it’s been since Stormblood.
It'd be sad to see a lot of gear go considering how big glamour is in this game, but NIN has always been in a weird spot gear-wise. If it gets merged into striking gear or something, I guess I can't complain too much. Plus, that'd leave open another maiming role for the Onion Knight job I'd like to see o.o A lot of scouting gear does tend to be similar to other gear sets as wellWhat I'm guessing will happen is there will be adjustments to the melee gear arrangements. 8-person content is often designed around team comps of 2 tanks, 2 healers, 2 melee and 2 ranged though. It makes the most sense to balance melee DPS with ranged DPS, as opposed to splitting ranged between magic and physical and then balancing those. If we get more ranged, we need another melee. Yoshi and co typically announce one or more impactful changes during one of LLs prior to the next expansion's release, and this time around I am guessing this is going to be one of those changes that will accompany the next job that uses the Scouting set. It's not that bad if it's just the accessories, but I actually don't think any gear is going to be deleted, just consolidated to make more sense. I am going to guess that the Slaying set will remain, and will be used by all melee, but the left side will still be Striking, Maiming, and Scouting. I would imagine that this will affect some of the materia builds for the more hardcore playerbase, while it won't matter much if at all for the casuals. We'll all just get used to it and accept it over time as usual though. It'd be sad to see a lot of gear go considering how big glamour is in this game, but NIN has always been in a weird spot gear-wise. That job need not necessarily be a melee job. A new ranger in scouting gear is a possibility, bringing the ranger count up to 4 while still giving NIN someone to split loot with.

I kind of envision it as a reverse Redmage, where the base attack pattern is melee, but ranged specials/mobility stuff. Maybe even a midrange character.
