Make it $20 and I'll gladly up the money I spend. That way when not in FFXIV I can return to the simpler (yet hellish) days of FFXI. Call me if you need a BLU or DRK...just know I have WHM as the sub for DRK because I DESPISE UNDEAD. I can't drain from them. T_TAnd to piggyback off of that, if it weren't making enough money to support itself as a bare minimum, they'd sooner drop the whole thing than make it free-to-play or bundle it as part of the XIV subscription service (which would still be essentially making FFXI free through XIV - it wouldn't be earning any money of its own).
A discount for linking subscriptions would be more likely.
I pay more for FFXI than FFXIV
and FFXI is my main MMO now as my sub for the game is 19$ and that goes for the extra mog storage for equipment. unlike xiv, gearswapping during combat is mandatory.
If they added dual subs to xiv+ XI, it would be nice for xiv players to see Vana'diel so I'm all for it
TBH FFXIV is the simpler one in terms of gameplay. FFXI is just not as visually pretty due to being a PS2 era title while having the classic old school menu system.
I'd pay extra to sub to a FFXI classic server. I have fond memories of that game but retail just isn't the same. FFXI isn't FFXI without the suffering.
It makes sense for players. Not the bussiness one tho. You are not gonna gain more subs than you would lose on FF11 players. Maybe if they introduce smt like Extra sub, for price of 18 bucks. Then they would consider it.
Yes and no. For FFXI in particular yeah, probably not going to gain anything from a business standpoint. However doing so and just making an all encompassing SE premium subscription that applied to all their online titles would lay groundwork for the future as currently FFXIV and DQX both have paid expansions. FFXI had these too but I don't see new content being added to that title now unless they suddenly want to overhaul it to make use of PS5 and modern PC hardware. There's bound to be more titles down the road as well and having a single SE sub covering all online services would make it easier for players of existing titles to try the new one since they wouldn't be stacking a new sub on top of the initial retail purchase.
Yeah, I sure miss the 4 hours of waiting around in Jeuno for a party.
I doubt they ever will kill 11 even when it makes little money, cause it's a numbered title. And to piggyback off of that, if it weren't making enough money to support itself as a bare minimum, they'd sooner drop the whole thing than make it free-to-play or bundle it as part of the XIV subscription service (which would still be essentially making FFXI free through XIV - it wouldn't be earning any money of its own).

1. you can do the whole storyline with Trusts, You can also form a party with Other players and Trusts, and also join a LS, players will be happy to help out if any content your stuck with.
2. while FFXI doesn't have a cash shop like XIV, it's still very much profitable, again I pay more for FFXI than FFXIV because the mog wardrobes ( I only have up to mog wardrobes 5 unlock there are 8 total, which total cost me about 20$ monthly), as you know, unlike xiv, gearswapping is very much necessary at endgame so you will be having alot of equipment that is needed and there are people who have like 6 or 3 alts with all mog 8 wardrobes unlocked. You do the math. it's add ups
