Only going to reply to the Original post..,

Alts are fine.., SE isn't forcing you to read all the MSQ.

But this RPGMMO/MMORPG Has a emphasis in its story. and it's why the largest part of the players enjoy/feel connected to the game.

If you were to go about how the game doesn't have sufficient Alt Friendly systems.
    If agree.
But Having all jobs on one character is not the fail/issue of it.

Having all on one and all characters is the best option.

Those Relics of Cash grab past where you pay for extra character slots for characters that only have one job, should stay there. in the eastern past.

    This is a overarching topic.
The game is fine as is rn when it comes to story.
But it definitely can be better for Alts.
<And many, if not all, improvements push towards not only a beneficial future for single character players, but those of us with alts, or long time players who played for many years, and decided to play more on an alt -than to take a break->

That is the thing i do not like the idea of playing ever class on different character. I like to create a story for all my characters. Like one is aspiring mage and the other is raging lunatic etc.
I do not hate fetch quest, as i was saying i am playing mmo's for like 20 years or so. Wow have tons of fetch quests and have never problem with them. What i have problem with is that the game forces me to do all of them to advance. This game is not an rpg if you tried a true rpg you wouldn't have said that. In rpg you can finish quest in couple of different ways. An example is solving Gecko power plant problem in Fallout 2. There are at least 4 ways to solve it. Proper rpg allows multiple quest resolution. Even in Oblivion you can finish quest more in one way.
Example in LOTRO you can start the story of moria without completing the story Angmar. In Wow you have to finish the story of expansion you are playing nowadays but it doesn't require you to finish the story from previous expansion to play current content.
Problem is... you would say that on the next MMO you play as well... each one of them has serious flaws, FFXIV is story driven other MMO's is skill based with themeparks you can play whenever see fit and other MMOs you can start different on different paths once you reach the end.
Some you lose everything if you lose your vessel and only able to get some of its value back by eg. insurance and such due to heavy contested PvP content.

Play two MMO's then if you need something different to do, but trust me no matter which game you will play, you will find stuff that may not be to your liking.

The best advice to give to people here honestly. You play the game that has the stuff you want. If you want a more serious and engaging dungeon and raid progression content, I play Classic WoW. If you want an immersive narrative, you play FFXIV, if you want better questing experience you play ESO, if you want horizontal progression at its best, you play GW2.

No MMO is going to appeal to every single nook and cranny in the genre. Those that tried have failed hard, its why FFXIV still stands today because they know its general audience.

    It is what it is.

Which is one of its strengths and why it's managed to appeal to a playerbase that wasn't just the MMO playerbase. This is not an MMO like other MMOs. We can either accept that and enjoy the unique aspects or complain that it's not like everything else out there and try to get it made into a carbon copy. I've seen enough of those MMOs. I'm happy to have a unique experience for once.

That is simply not true. LOTRO players also mainly play for the story, and generally consider the journey to levelcap to be more important than play at levelcap. TSW/SWL are also mainly about story.
Don't assume that what's true for WoW is true for any other MMO.

A lot of MMOs are story rich. I feel that the people who say they are not either only played WoW or just overlooked the story of them.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

14 has a decent story by mmo standards, no one cared about wows story because they kept mucking it up, half the reason people disliked BFA was the fact the story was such a mess. people do care, esp when the game doesnt treat it as an after thought

Actually false some wow players care and many buy and read the books. Same with diablo and starcraft for some people. I always care for story in game

Thats the main problem of MSQ: if you invite ur friend in game, u have to wait alot of time in order to play with them actual content/ content you like, or u forced to buy story skip. I know few people, who never reached 90 level content, coz they gave up on MSQ grind (they were to lazy to login, coz new content still behind big MSQ grind)

And its very simple to speak about MSQ, when u play 24/7 and dont miss any updates with small MSQ portions.
