My impression of English Forum

Forums tend to be a place for people to vent when something is not how they wished it was, which is why the tone tends to be quite harsh most of the time. And also there is people trolling. That's pretty much it.
There are some threads with players just having a good time, but it's not that many.

Because of this, these forums can be a very unappealing place to be. I imagine the culture shock already being hard enough, when visiting other countries for a longer period of time - you now, when people actually DO behave themselves, due to fear of consequences. But having this forum as a first impression of sorts, must have been a devastating experience >.<.

I honestly feel kind of sorry for this. There is probably better places to talk about FFXIV-related things, exchanging opitions and such. Since I personally stick to my friends most of the time, I cannot point towards any tough =/.
