Up until the moment The Aitiascope both reminded me that he'd ever existed in the first place and that he was definitely actually dead, I wouldn't have been surprised if he had ended up turning up alive at some point. But here we are!
This is pretty much me every time a character death happens in FF XIV.

I just can't force myself to care.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Same. Perhaps I'd care a bit more if the characters killed off weren't irrelevant side characters. I don't find the death of that satrap dude we meet 5 minutes ago to be compelling. There hasn't been a good protagonist death since Heavensward.

The same Heavensward that undid a bunch of consequences from the end of ARR?

Up until 4.0, I would say yes. They were killing characters left and right for very little reason beside a short-burst impact with very actual narrative or story reason. Haurchefant's death formula was so typical and his death scene was so bad that's my reaction during his scene was just "really? that's just stupid". I bet the story writer looked at Moraeby's death and was like "ohhh look like people like it, so let's do it again!"

IMO from 4.0 onward the writing has become a lot more "mature", ironically because they stop using these death as fake inflation for a character's worth, instead actually write something substantial to make me care about them.

Well, except for the obligatory Y'shtola death fakeouts.

That's just her legacy, I suppose.
