Same. I actually like Borza too. Playing a SAM or MNK in full haste gear were ... intense. And I think something like Seraph Strike would be a very welcome permanent addition to the healer tool kit (a strong attack with MP management).

But then again, this thread isn't about understand why people hated or telling they should stop complaining. It's about people like you or me who actually enjoy those content to step up more and make positive feedback. That's all really.

I agree, that SE was listening to players, only that they didn't get what players were complaining about.
People were complaining about Eureka, because you were forced to do it to get the relic. There simply was no other option.
See, and this is the issue. If want a balance adjustment, shouldn't it be natural to say the community should also provide a more balance input? It's hard to blame SE that their adjustment is bias toward one side when we refuse to give them a balance feedback because of ... reasons? ... I feel we're setting up some standard we want SE to follow, standard that I don't think anyone of us would want to apply on ourselves.

Do ingame polls frequently, that also reward you for doing them. In Honkai & Genshin you get a bit of premium currency for doing those. In FFXIV you could simply award players like 100 capped tomes that don't count towards your weekly cap, for participating in a poll. It's the easiest and most engaging way to get feedback.
I love this, SE should do it!

for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

...Yeah, for me too. I felt my hair become whiter than this dude's armor the second I saw the image on Google.

I was there doing it and loving it. I've been playing since Heavensward and I LOVED Eureka. I did it day 1 pre nerf when it was relevant, I cleared BA the week it came out, same with Bozja and its raids. Literally the only time I ever complained about that content was pre nerf Pagos because pre nerf Pagos being a "level through chains" experience was brutal. I otherwise had a blast running that content with friends, making new friends, and being social with people.

It shouldn't be my fault that I don't constantly tell them what they do correct. They'd need to have better ways to pull engagement and happiness. It's 2023, media companies know how to pull that information from their base by now. If Square doesn't, then that's a huge problem.

Edit: I really wish they would just have actual polls on the forum, AND send everyone content polls. They need to be way more engaged with their community. :/
I wish the FFXIV development team would get feedback in someway from people who are actually in game playing, not living on social media or forums. I feel like they would get vastly different results and opinions.

I think the issue might be that SE shouldn't listen to the community.

I understand feedback is important, but at the same time the community is incredibly large. Trying to take in feedback from every single source is difficult. At this point I think it's up to SE to understand their audience well and provide what they think they want.

They should, but equally, they should use better methods for gauging feedback/direction. Simply asking players to provide feedback is a recipe for disaster, seeing as the scope is so large. But if they were able to narrow this scope with polls (not constrained to the OF) then that would be a better alternative.

That said, another thing to consider is that not all feedback gets addressed, in that the feedback may deviate from the intention or direction they have/want for the game, e.g., accessibility over difficulty. They may listen to the feedback, but whether they address or agree with the feedback is a different matter entirely.

The people I'm trying to address here are those who generally like the game and enjoy it. And my message to them is very simple:

If you like the game, don't just stay silent, speak out what you like more, give the dev that positive reinforcement
Which is nice, but your message isn't going to reach the majority of players that you want to hear it because they don't visit the forums in the first place.

You want to know what the real positive reinforcement is for the developers? Renewing your subscription. If you were genuinely unhappy with the game, you wouldn't renew it. You'd spend the money elsewhere. When you're willing to keep paying, they know they're doing something right even if maybe it's not all right in your eyes.

They know that it's the forums and similar media that players will go to when they feel the developers are doing something wrong.

Think about your own dive into the forums. What originally prompted it?

For me, it was housing. I enjoy it and yet I see so much room for improvement that I wanted to leave feedback. Eventually I started adding some feedback on other things I was interested in discussing. My feedback does go both ways but I can't deny most of it is going to be related to things I think could be better.

The forums may be filled with Negative Nancys but they're still paying a subscription and that alone speaks loudly. Negative feedback doesn't bring them down. What brings them down is the personal attacks that some launch (calls for people to be fired and the like).

As I said earlier, feedback is going to tend to be negative and the developers are well aware of that.

Logging in to play the game is a poll in itself. They can tell what content players are doing, and what content is getting ignored.

If a particular piece of content is getting ignored more than they expected, then they have the Community team to scan the forums, social media, YouTube/Twitch, etc. to find out why it's getting ignored. If there's a topic in the forums here or on reddit that's getting hundreds of responses, the Community team will pick up on it and condense the feedback to pass onto the developers.

The unsolicited feedback players voluntarily post in the various locations is going to be a lot more honest in nature than solicited feedback. Behavior and responses change when people are very much aware they're being specifically watched.
