It matters in content with strict dps checks. And strict dps checks have becoming even more common this expansion, unless console players have no interest in ultimate or savage fights. Separating pc from console will not stop console from saying pc has an unfair advantage. It will do the opposite when people see the clear rates on pc are 3 times higher than console. I'm not saying all console players perform badly. But a good 60 to 70% of the ones I have encountered do and it's not necessarily their fault. They just have no clue they're doing poorly because they can't see it.

Again nobody really cares in the grand scheme of things, nor should you. I get what you mean but maybe stop thinking that this is a console vs pc issue? Strict dps checks only matter in the early weeks of released content, which only a select few even care about progging seriously. Once everybody gets gear upgrades in the later months, those dps checks are less of an issue.

You cannot speak for everyone and what they care or don't care about. Once you do that, you're already wrong.
