hate to point it out to you...Square Enix isn't like Blizzard. They don't have billions of dollars to spend on this game. It's a much smaller company and they can't afford to do NA East and NA West like many other games have. Sorry, but we're on a shoestring budget and it's all we can get. On the flip side, Square Enix won't do anything about plugins (they can't afford to) so you can use NoClippy without any risk of repercussion. That should fix your lag issue.
but even your heroic Blizzard never had South American servers. why? its not cost effective to set up for the number of players plain and simple.
Well Blizzard is a US company... so they think only the US is America. Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America are cryptids to them like Bigfoot, Mothman, Jersy Devil, Nessie, etc... :P lol

But Blizzard does have SA servers??
Edit to clarify, they don't have servers for WoW because of the infrastructure required. But their other games definitely have SA servers.

all i want is an NA east data center. that's all. i don't know who was asking for an OCE one because the OCE people i knew had no interest in leaving (the only ones i know who have are ones that are southeast asian), they all told me that they grew accustomed to playing at high ping

It used to be a fairly common request here on the forums. And they had a fan event the devs went to in Australia where they experienced it themselves.
Those posts have obviously died off now, and I'm sure the DC didn't fill up as expected from all the buzz the topic used to draw.
This is likely one of those catch-22s. SE is terrible if they don't add them, but if they do and no one switches, we'll, what was the point. Data centers cost a ton of money (not just buildings, servers, networking, etc.). My job is supporting DC infrastructure, and builds of a few dozen servers cost in the millions.
It's not as cheap as people seem to think it is, and that's capital expenses, which companies are loath to spend.
The Japanese wanted it so we'd get off Tonberry. That's 100% the motivation behind OCE. Unfortunately, SE listened to them that it was the "Australians" that was the issue when really the biggest English community there is SEA.all i want is an NA east data center. that's all. i don't know who was asking for an OCE one because the OCE people i knew had no interest in leaving (the only ones i know who have are ones that are southeast asian), they all told me that they grew accustomed to playing at high ping
Who ping higher to Aus.
So they didn't move.

Yep. As an Indian I ping around ~70-80 ms on Singaporean servers for example, like PoE or Steam download servers. Australia connections though, ping worse for me than even NA or JP.The Japanese wanted it so we'd get off Tonberry. That's 100% the motivation behind OCE. Mortal Fist
A SEA player wrote an interesting post a while ago that it wasn't just geographically bad but also the NTT network routing is horrific. Pair that with Australian copper and no one outside aus/nz is having a good time.
