Nothing guarantied you'd get a house in the old system. Your dedication didn't get you anything. It was pure random luck if you got the lucky click or not amidst 20 people doing the same as you, 18 of which were probably bots clicking faster than you and had actual higher chances than you. The only difference with lottery is that you can do literally anything else with your life other than click on a placard.

Is the lottery system imperfect? yes. But you people need to stop pretending Placard Spamming was better because it wasn't.

Way too many people will spill salt over bad RNG against the objectively better system purely because they didn't get what they wanted. It's nothing new and best we can hope is that it will just be ignored for salt it is, and only actual problems with system will be addressed, rather than regressing back into awful placard clickfest.

Yes it did, and no it wasn't. Me and all the friends I met spamming those placards got houses under that system. With that being said, we all spent waaaay too much time spamming (30+ hours collectively for me) and losing plots to transfers and bots. The old system was obviously bad, nobody in their right mind actually wants it back, I'm just saying at least there was a way to influence the outcome and that the lottery system is the laziest band-aid imaginable.

Its not lazy at all, considering, in ideal system, there SHOULDNT be a way to influence the outcome. That is the only way a system for distributing limited resources can stay fair - if everyone is on completely equal footing. Yes, its true its not equal right now but the steps should be made towards it being more equal, not less.

FCFS is the most fair system actually.

Walk up to plot, purchase and claim, end of story.

Oh and I did have a house under the old system, had to get one multiple times due to server transfering, and I never had issues, always went for small goblet, extremely few people, and then upgraded with instant relo.

And what about people who have lives that make them incapable of waking up at 5AM on patch day when new plots are added? They just don't get a chance at having a house?

Contrary to your own experience, some people do have IRL lives and obligations that may prohibit them from being able to dedicate all of their time to FFXIV.

Exactly the problem, its never good enough for people, there's always someone that it might not work for, maybe I'll go to the bathroom when the house comes up for sale ? Oh no, anyways ! Maybe I'll be with my mom when the house comes up, or maybe at work, or maybe just out grocery shopping, does the world need to stop spinning because I'm doing something else with my life ? Does a virtual game need to be impacted by what I decide to do with my life ?
