It is worth noting that the marks don't necessarily line up to regions of worship, though. If there is a place that worships that god then yeah, the mark is probably there (see: Halone's outside Ishgard, Rhalgr's in Little Ala Mhigo), but I think sometimes marks are just... there, and there's nothing to read into it. Not much Thaliak about Mor Dhona, no real connection between Byregot and the Camp Tranquil region.

(for multiple reasons I don't want a time travel expansion, but if we ever did, yes, War of the Magi please)
A LOT of it comes from blurbs in game, minion/card/whatever descriptions, and the tiny section in the EE was enough for me (I also had a personal thought confirmed back when I got my first lore book and got it signed by Koji, but that was mainly context clues from what I did know back in that time and just getting it confirmed was great!) and then just... putting together pieces from there haha. I do enjoy Magi lore though, so I'm always hoping for more.

tbf, Byregot's used to be in W Shroud which... we can't just visit anymore let me iiiiiin, Yoshidaaaaaa near one of the old camps, so it was displaced during the 7UC... somehow! I don't think it was moved by a spoken race since that looks mighty heavy. It could have been elsewhere long ago too, which lends itself to the dialogue post-raid that they've been around for a real long time, but the earth being rent asunder so many times, they either appear elsewhere or through the Twelve's own ability they manifest elsewhere. Some may have some obvious connections (Gridania is still influenced by Amdapor with Nophica, Ul'dah the twin gods, Limsa and Llymlaen) but others, like you said, may not... at least ones we can't/haven't sussed out yet Whether we get that info or not, I enjoy theorizing about it haha.
