What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I do hope that by "residents of this thread" you're referring to everyone who engages with the thread in general, not strictly the people who agree with its premise.

In all seriousness this thread probably wouldn't even exist much less drag on as long as it did if people could accept that XIV isn't unassailably flawless and agree to disagree about certain things. This is the only community I've ever been in where I feel like you have to fight to have a negative opinion about certain subjects and it's both frustrating and alienating.

I'm not going to go around decrying people for taking no issues with or loving the plot and other "sensitive" subjects, but I will bite back if see people trying to refute the reasons others have for disliking it and there's an easy counterargument to be had.

You might not but it's too far gone at this point. There has been someone very vocal in this thread frequently implying that people who like the story lack critical thinking. Saying you will bite back when it's a neverending spiral is kinda pointless.

I've seen multiple content creators getting dogpiled for disliking or even just not having a "strong enough" reaction to parts of the story the majority liked, and some have also expressed in secret they felt like they couldn't be honest with their feelings due to fear of backlash. There's this air of intolerance I tend to get from the social media space, the OFs probably being the most civil space for discussion in that regard, but it gets ugly to the point of mods of having to step in other places like Reddit, Discord, etc...and the mods themselves are rarely not biased towards one opinion or another.

And yeah, there are certain people who are a bit too strong with their opinions either way, to the point of trying to shove them down people's throats and belittling the intelligence of others, which I'm not okay with.

I suppose responding to people's counterarguments does tend to just provoke more negativity in response, but seeing the same shallow dismissive comments like "You missed the point", "you didn't understand it", "you're wrong", etc, etc gets really vexing after encountering it so many times. Why does it matter is what I should be asking those people instead because at the end of the day, an opinion is an opinion, and it's easier to just dismiss it instead of making it an issue out of it.

Well when I first mentioned that I liked the antagonists I was called a nazi right off the bat. I have since heard similar stories from people saying they could relate with the (fictional) bad guys. Is it so hard to understand that, after experiencing that, people are reluctant to share their opinions?

We make it simple for you. You must not like story. You do not try to do the think because guild will do this for you. We have hire the expert story writer from the king burger store to teach you correct way.

This is good point. Because vocal minority attacking the silent majority to trick Yoshi's island and making it look like many player is liking game. But silent majority hate game and is sub and play every day. Is why the tread must be force bump and necro to be keeping the candle lit.

Yes.
White knights and other oppositions appear in almost every thread and it hasnt stopped us forumites a single time, quite ruthlessly from time to time aswell. So why now?
It only ends badly if you are trying to convince people who you recognize as not wanting to be convinced. If you care about the opinions of people you have already classified as deranged in your head then you are chasing the wrong goals.

Every thread has two paths: one of escalation and one of discussion. If you want escalation then respond in the same way people are yelling at you. If you want discussion only respond to people honestly discussing points.
