I mean, you're all over this thread and have said logs would help decide who is and isn't pulling their weight/being toxic. So you have a specific expectation that revolves around parse and not hitting a certain point is being toxic.

And they do. Because a lot of the player base is worse than Duty Support NPCs. You know what Duty Support NPCs can do? For tanks and healers they can handle double pack pulls, and speaking of healers they also do damage. For DPS they actually manage basic rotations and CDs. Is that really so much to ask for? You know, basic competency

Nope, you don't get off that easy

Let's be honest now, the expectations you have for the playerbase go far above "being better than a Duty Support NPC" with how much you speak about logs and judge others based off them as well. If that was the actual case, being able to clear content at a quick pace with everyone using AoEs when appropriate would be enough (considering Duty Support literally does neither of those things).

Not trying to hate, just keeping it honest based on the posts of yours I've seen over the past months.

DPS meters promote instrumental play over social play. Which in WoW case lead it to become the toxic cesspool it is now. I don't want the same in FF14.

For you to convince me, you'd need to prove why humans playing FF14 will behave differently than humans that play WoW when presented with the same stimuli.

I think he's trying to argue the opposite, or by contrapositive, to say that the playerbases differ only because their stimuli differ.

It's just that confusing because the playerbases do not noticeably differ when comparing like activities and/or their participants, both have third-party but ubiquitous access to parsing (unless playing from console), and FFXIV tends to be the far, far more numbers-focused (since any other form of value is basically nonexistent here), "parse-minded", likely to look up someone's log before inviting them to a static, etc..

He's making a case based on what he imagines the facts to be. He just happens to be wrong about those facts.

I would also hazard a guess that your idea of "competency" would be so far fetched and literally impossible to achieve as makes no odds. Your attitude and approach sounds like a demand for perfection on a scale even the Borg would balk at.

If it was used as a means to objectively show that a person was not performing to adequate standard would you have an issue? For the most part outside if outliers I am sure we could all agree while performing mechanics the DPS order should be DPS role Tanks, then healers?

If a DPs role is on the bottom of the chart would it be toxic in itself to point out that fact? If someone were to say in an non aggressive or hostile matter that the person has underperformed from a objectice metric and thus will be removed, what is toxic about this? They were playing poorly I do not think anyone can say a dps being on the bottom of the charts is good play outside of a few outliers. People for the most part would acknowledge those outliers.

If someone is hostile then you are free to report. This is the only aspect outside of the removal of.PVP chat where the community was a proactive approach to harassment instead of reactive like every other aspect of the game.
