If there is a wikipedia with a "strawman" argument entry, I probably can cite this part as an example.

The majority of content in FF14 are "open access" to all. Everything you listed can be achieved given enough time spent. Some takes more time than other, but eventually you can access it. There are only TWO type of content that are hardlocked currently:

- Gardening.
- FC workshop.

The first requires you have to have a house, the second requires you to own an FC with a house or at least be in the upper echelon of the FC to access. And you can play for months and years and will never get any closer to to unlock these content unless you meet the requirement. And unless you haven't noticed, the community don't have a favorable view to those.

... Actually, there used to be a 3rd type content that was hardlocked behind FC: 3.0 Diadem. And guess what, it was so dead that they got rid of it after an expansion, and brought it back later as an "open" access. So ... true success story right there.

Who said anything about not wanting more content? Even if you want, you can lock behind some of the content behind FC now. Like: map can only be done with FC members, Criterion is made into an FC only dungeon. The question you seem to missed is people asking: what's the point? So if SE came up with a new type of content, which I believe everyone will like, we simply against idea of arbitrary locking it behind FC.

Like ... what's the point of limiting access to other players? And if your point is "so SE can help keep my FC alive that I don't want to spend the effort doing it myself", then people are just telling you that you have a bad point, not that they're against new content..
These points make no sense. We already have content thats theoretically "locked" behind having an FC such as company submersibles. Again I feel like sometimes we're just arbitrarly throwing around things being "locked" behind features in this game as if somehow all players are FORCED to do them. None of the optional content in this game is ever forced on the player, its why its called "optional" as in, not required to progress through the game.

So them making an activity thats FC related should have no bearing over you making progress with playing the game. Itll be just an optional thing to do if you happen to own or be a part of an FC.
