Why getting rid of FC where so many people are running successful FC? Getting rid of it because a few can't spend the effort to keep theirs running?
If there is a wikipedia with a "strawman" argument entry, I probably can cite this part as an example.A lot of the response here is just folks throwing the excuse around oh but we dont want content being gated. I suppose the game itself is gated around paying a subscription. Or how the endgame is gated behind a lengthy msq or how gear is gated behind raiding.
The majority of content in FF14 are "open access" to all. Everything you listed can be achieved given enough time spent. Some takes more time than other, but eventually you can access it. There are only TWO type of content that are hardlocked currently:
- Gardening.
- FC workshop.
The first requires you have to have a house, the second requires you to own an FC with a house or at least be in the upper echelon of the FC to access. And you can play for months and years and will never get any closer to to unlock these content unless you meet the requirement. And unless you haven't noticed, the community don't have a favorable view to those.
... Actually, there used to be a 3rd type content that was hardlocked behind FC: 3.0 Diadem. And guess what, it was so dead that they got rid of it after an expansion, and brought it back later as an "open" access. So ... true success story right there.
Who said anything about not wanting more content? Even if you want, you can lock behind some of the content behind FC now. Like: map can only be done with FC members, Criterion is made into an FC only dungeon. The question you seem to missed is people asking: what's the point? So if SE came up with a new type of content, which I believe everyone will like, we simply against idea of arbitrary locking it behind FC.Anymore loose examples we can start throwing with crying about things being "gated" rather than wanting the devs to just create content for the sake of content huh?
Like ... what's the point of limiting access to other players? And if your point is "so SE can help keep my FC alive that I don't want to spend the effort doing it myself", then people are just telling you that you have a bad point, not that they're against new content..
