VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

While you're technically correct that we should all be on the same side, keep in mind that hrothgar players have had to deal with insulting comments from other players far more than any other race, from people hating hroths because they're the "furry" race (even though plenty of non-furry players play them), to outright telling hroth players they should shut up and get over it and live with what they've got (especially insulting because it's always a femqo'te), to absolute bs like hroths ruined Viera release/are ruining other races. So while maybe a few of my fellow hroth players are a bit too heated in their last posts, you can understand why and can maybe see why your comments can, accidentally and unintentionally I'm sure, draw out a more combative reaction.

I'm certainly on Hroths' side even if they aren't always going to be on mine. First thing I said when they had the gall to release earless Hrothgar hairstyles was that I would be happy if they skipped an entire Viera update patch to correct it. I still feel the same way. I would gladly have had them skip 6.3's Viera hair update if it meant Hrothgar would get everything they should've gotten between 6.1 and 6.2. Personally, I've gotten enough updates for the race I play to last me until next expansion (not speaking for all Viera players here, just myself.)

I am really sorry that it always feels like the people who scream the loudest are the ones who get acknowledged first. I also waited all through Shadowbringers to get updates for my favourite race, and in the end it took 2 whole years. Some folks had to wait even longer than me.

Point is, yes, both races are on the same boat, but Viera are actually on the boat while Hrothgars are holding on for dear life with half the body still in the water

I have 0 problem with Viera, be they female or male.

I have 0 problem with Vieras having and obtaining the stuff they frankly do deserve.

What I have a problem with is Vieras thinking Hrothgars are the same as they are. They are not.

What I have a problem with is people neglecting how poorly Hrothgars have been treated in comparison.

And then neglecting to acknowledge the issues and why so many people are skeptical and defensive.

I really, really like Hrothgar and I want Hrothgar to get everything they deserve. I do not think we are like that friggan X-Men meme at all. I do not think Hrothgar are fine the way they are and I wouldn't ever tell you to suck it up and deal with it. You have received nothing. SE tried to slip by with the laziest update I've ever seen (earless hair) and acted all shocked when it wasn't well received.

When I say we are all on the same side I am not telling you folks to "be patient, let the devs do their thing." I do agree you have the right to be pissed off, but being pissed at Viera/Viera players (like some of the previous posts strongly imply) doesn't help *at all*. Viera aren't the golden children or the favourite toy of SE. Is there some favoritism between the two races? Probably, yeah, and it can be chocked up to some combination of two factors:

1) Viera are the more popular race (numbers-wise.)
2) Viera are more humanoid and therefore easier to work with regarding hairstyles specifically.

I want Hroths to get everything. I would even want it at the expense of Viera at this point, as I said above.

The best analogy I've seen is that both aren't in the same boat, they're in the same storm. Viera got a lifeboat thrown to them, but Hrothgar are still clinging to driftwood.

I agree that while Viera are left behind in many ways, the hroths are much more behind.

Im not too happy we got bunny boys either because personally I wanted bunny men, to each their own preferences and I am glad to see them around and watch many people enjoy themselves and relate to them but for me I wanted a rougher type of dude =/ so when the bunny bois came out I was a bit disappointed ;___;…and a bit concerned for the future of female Hrothgar.

I do find them cute but it was not at all what I imagined when I read “stealthy forest men” they look too…..clean, they have better makeup than us so the description should have been “k-pop men” instead.
Put down your pitchforks as I said that’s just my opinion and I am ok with it now seeing how many people like them and I do find them aesthetically pleasing but not in a way I was expecting.

I think they shouldn’t have caved to the pressure of bringing bunny boys so soon, especially before fem Hrothgar. I thought it would have been natural to bring them both together given that fem Viera came with male Hrothgar.

I, like many Viera here, would have no problem to have us on pause for a bit until they catch up to Hrothgar being equal to us and then they can catch up to both races being equal to all the others.

I know part of the reason they give Viera more attention than Hrothgar is because there are more players playing Viera vs Hrothgar but yet we all pay the same subscription price and I find it very unprofessional on their part to keep releasing things half finished. I barely play the past weeks and this has a lot to do with it I just became a bit fed up to pay the same price for less and before some self righteous most likely midlander comes to tell me life isn’t fair, bro this is a video game.

In terms of subscription content (glamours, events, patch stuff) Endwalker has been pretty dang strong, imo. Stronger than Shadowbringers. We've had a great glamour set reward for nearly every holiday event the past year. We had, what, maybe one or two throughout all of Shadowbringers? The one miss for me was the Sildihn Subterranean EX/Savage. I personally would have preferred a new adventuring foray like Eureka or Bozja, but we had enough folks complain that I guess they decided to change it up. For better or worse I can't really say yet. All in all though I feel like I've been getting more than my money's worth. I know some folks will not agree, but I was here for all of Shadowbringers as well and man, the event rewards were incredibly subpar in comparison. I'm happy the deep dungeon and Omega Protocol are coming out soon just for repeatable/proggable content, of course.

This is how I feel, though I wouldn't say we NEED to be catered to as well as you guys. Like, let's be realistic here. Y'all are more popular than us. And while it unfortunately means we won't have the priority, as long as we're "serviceable", they can honestly go for whatever on Viera first. That I don't mind. Whatsoever.

What it'd be nice would be if once they turned their attention to Hrothgar they didn't treat it as the leftover project. We're already behind and unpopular, why are they just doubling down and making us look worse and worse? Because we're not serviceable, and thinking the weird hairstyles and removal of ears was fine doesn't help. To a race who generally has been rather quiet.

I personally do prefer if they hadn't caved to pressure and acknowledged the work that needed to be done to facilitate Male Vieras and Female Hrothgar in the future if they chose to implement them. Because I feel like the players who changed to MV and will change to FH deserve better than the same bullshit that's been fed everyone else for years now.

And just to reiterate: I don't shame people for wanting or feeling happy about Male Viera. Please, be happy, because people made sure that they'd be implemented when originally they weren't even planned. Now don't treat it like it was a given or gloss over the issues, because it sure as balls isn't a given, and there is so much bull around the topic to make Square look like a farm.

It's why a big topic in the Femgar thread now is debating and posting which sort of body we want to see in the game. Primarily those who plan on changing to FemGar. Because it's important for THOSE people to feel satisfied, rather than going for whatever idea comes out of their arse without thought* and then pikachu-facing and saying "wow, we didn't expect people's reactions".

*Creative freedom is a thing and the devs are the ones in charge of the game. They have this power and the liberty to express themselves. That shouldn't be denied. However, it's still a product, and at the end of the day, your idea still needs to resonate with your clients. And it's clear SE pays attention to it, since they said "wow, we didn't expect that reaction" on Hrothgar hairstyles.

Just as a side note, I hope for Valentione's day that we might have a Hrothgar NPC. Pretty please! It's been 3 years and no Hrothgar was put as the face of any celebration. I really like the Valeniones event and hope we might get our good boys some love!

That’s where they fail once again. Maybe there would be way more Hrothgars around IF they were given the proper attention to begin with. They shouldn’t justify leaving you guys behind because you’re less players, it goes hand in hand with them treating you like less players. This isn’t some small indie company, if you make a new race then keep up with it.
