There was a guy on WOW that has been at that one mount for over a decade.. Youd think that after the first two or three years he'd get the message. That mount is what we call predatory practice, drop rate so absurdly low it keeps you playing..and paying...chasing a mount that has less than a .05% chance for TEN YEARS.

Oh, I believe it. I was farming it every year back when I played WoW too. Never even saw it drop. (Or a number of other rare drops, like Invincible, the Raven Lord, Mimiron's Head, or any of the mounts from Firelands or Dragon Soul, but those aren't seasonal events, at least.) And I knew plenty of people who never saw drops for other mounts, like the Headless Horseman's horse or the two Brewfest mounts.
