I think it's just that people need to set realistic expectations.

Square-Enix's approach to "side content" is basically this: work on it in the background, push it out during a major patch cycle when it's ready, provide minor support (balance tweaks, bugfixes, and the like) afterwards through perhaps another patch cycle, and then basically abandon it.

Look at literally any content that is not MSQ- or raid-related and you can see a very clear, very obvious pattern of this. To me, it's an absurdly wasteful and inefficient way to run a project, but it's how they choose to do things for one reason or another. PvP is absolutely "side content," and AFAIK it's really only alive at all because Yoshida has a personal interest in "MMO PvP" (he's an old-school DAOC and Lineage II player or something, if I remember right) so it's kind of a pet project for him.

Sad to say, but if it's not raiding or MSQ stuff, it's a bad idea to expect high-quality support for it.
