Looks like catering this game to casual snowflake players didn't revive pvp. It will however always be revived during next series pass. And we're going to keep going through this cycle where the odd numbered season is the most likely while the even number season is the most dead in any data center.

And you should be allowed to call them snowflakes in pvp chat instead of being forced to spam quickchat messages at them, and hope they understand what you mean ;p

A de-ranking system to filter out the bad players. That was months ago. Because too many ppl have an easier time reaching crystal rank, to reach the top 100 at an easier time. Too many issues of win trading and such. A few knew this was a bad idea due to random occurrences….who wants to listen to that side of the aisle. Didn’t realize that oooooooh, de-rank down to platinum….nope. A lot of ppl bailed and the ppl got what they wanted. NOW….the ranking is dead, WHAT DO YOU THINK IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN?

I just treat it as any other fighting game in rank. All you going to see is the same ppl in the top tier rank, the ques are long, yada yada. You can’t turn back the clock now.

It did had a casual mindset in a way before the drastic change to setup e-sports I guess. The devs just filter out…..can’t fault the casuals for leaving. The devs give the dedicated players what they asked for and pretty much force them out into where they were meant to be without the stress. So it is what it is.

Catering to a group that treats the pvp content like it does its pve content was a bad idea. They expect crystal tier, without putting in the effort. These are the same type of people that expect to be carried in an alliance raid.

If you aren't that great but you put in effort, you will see some success. If you put in no effort and aren't good, you won't see any success. It's better to play with people your own speed than with people with higher or lower capabilities. They should have never had the tier floor protections in the first place. This made people that thought they were 'crystal level' not make crystal in later seasons. Pretty sure Season 1 was over 50% Crystal. That is lopsided.

Even with casuals still be favored with the lack of counterplay, it looks like they are doing worse by getting lower tiers, even if and when they are actually improving.

Those Developers must think we're a bunch of pests, its really feeling like it now.

I think it's just that people need to set realistic expectations.

Square-Enix's approach to "side content" is basically this: work on it in the background, push it out during a major patch cycle when it's ready, provide minor support (balance tweaks, bugfixes, and the like) afterwards through perhaps another patch cycle, and then basically abandon it.

Look at literally any content that is not MSQ- or raid-related and you can see a very clear, very obvious pattern of this. To me, it's an absurdly wasteful and inefficient way to run a project, but it's how they choose to do things for one reason or another. PvP is absolutely "side content," and AFAIK it's really only alive at all because Yoshida has a personal interest in "MMO PvP" (he's an old-school DAOC and Lineage II player or something, if I remember right) so it's kind of a pet project for him.

Sad to say, but if it's not raiding or MSQ stuff, it's a bad idea to expect high-quality support for it.

I've noticed that after a couple years playing this game since Stormblood! I don't understand these developers, and I just give up. They just need to say it that their projects failed and we can be done with it.

Grand Company Ranks failed for whatever it was supposed to lead to.

PVP failed hard and lost some PVP Maps along the way.

The way gear strength color rarity is handled is nonsensical (like why in the hell does Green Crafted gear ends up being stronger than Blue when Blue feels like it suppose to be more special unless its Savage for a certain period of time)? At Least Purple Gear gets to keep their identity to some extent.

Endgame Content is just non-existent, oh boy content that lasts for a week from patches that take so long to come out, and I'm supposed to repeat the process over and over again like a hamster on the wheel until I get sick of it. Eureka and Bozja was awesome ideas even if both had their issues because both of those lasted for months.

Developer's idea of repetition within each content patch (hallway Simulator Dungeons as one example) which is affecting everything in this game, and feels like they want this game to be boring as the Seven Hells, did they even bother to see if there any entertainment value in this? At least the variant dungeons is in the step in the right direction, but I don't understand why it took this long. The Dungeons would be more interesting if it was done more in the classical Final Fantasy Style (Variant is already stepping in the right direction), they got a bunch of ideas right there from the past where it wouldn't feel like a hallway simulator.

The Overworld Monsters are a absolute joke as there is no danger whatsoever except the Hunts.

The Dungeon Monsters are a absolute joke as there is no danger with those either, and the bosses are just pathetic for a very long time now (only a couple of bosses have made the exception). For heaven's sake the Final boss of EW was a joke! You got to be kidding me! Every FF's final boss was at least challenging if you didn't overlevel! There is no payoff! Oh here is the EX version! That does not give the same feeling of payoff when that should have been in the MSQ to begin with.

I'm frustrated as all hell with the Developers at this point including Yoshida, I'm sorry I know he is great, but some of these design decisions just isn't good!
