It's totally depend on how you want to spin it. Some people want a high profile, glamorous relationship, while someone other prefer having a cheap girlfriend. FF14 is a cheap girlfriend to me.
- Once a while she gussy up for me and we spend quality time together.
- But she doesn't demand my full attention, give me my own private time.
- And even if I end up neglect her a long time, it doesn't take much to patch up the relationship again.
If you want a high maintenance 24/7 lovey dovey, I'm not gonna say it's a bad taste 'cause you do you. But there is a logic behind why some people doesn't mind a cheap girlfriend.
Don't exactly know why you insert the online store into this argument though? Guess what, I don't like it either, and have never bought a cosmetic item on it. I don't complain about it, neither I have problem staying away from it.
You know, before I broke into the MMO scene many years ago, I was strictly an SP player. Hell, I even went as as believe people who pay sub for an MMO were stupid and weren't shy about making that known. When I asked one of my college friend "how can you justify paying sub for WoW when you don't even playing that much (guy was super busy), just 2 months and you can buy a brand new game you can play forever!"
He didn't try to argue back whether I am right or wrong. He just explained to me like this: well, when I go watch a movie at the cinema, between ticket, parking, food and drink that usually cost 25$-30$ for a 4hours, $15 a month is still good value even for me if I only got to play ~2h a day.
I'm playing FF14 more than he ever would WoW, so is $15 worth it for me? Totally.
And like I said before, FF14 have an absurd amount of content. If you complain about FF14 doesn't have enough content, I would like to ask can you cite me example of an MMO that has more. Without a point of reference it's hard to judge whether the complain is valid, or just people can't never have enough.
