been playing this game sence arr started and very much enjoying myself still a good game to play and keep busy between updates.

Perhaps it's best for us to adjust to see this game as a "cheap girlfriend"--not because of the game itself, but because that's how other players want to see it. They don't see FFXIV as an equal to something like WoW. Just some "side hoe". Perhaps that's what it means to be cheap.
- If this game is an equal to WoW, I doubt I would be here for 10 years.
- In the end, I like what I like. How people see it is quite irrelevant. If what I like is everyone treasure? Great. If what I like is the niche of niche? Fine by me.
That's why my post does not tell people what to like or to dislike. I'm just telling people what this game is about, and decide it's something to invest or not. Like ... I'm not gonna argue between sour and sweet which one taste better. I'm just saying ... if FF14 is a lemon, and you prefer something sweet, then please don't bite into a lemon and complain it's not sweet.
Like I said, FF14 is a jack of all trade, its content is more about spread rather than depth, and I signed up for the package knowing that to expect.

I know at least ONE person in my life ate 15 lemons with friends and enjoyed it. Granted, it made their gum so num that they all had to skip dinner that evening, but apparently slice of lemon go very well with spicy salt ... or so I'm told.
My mouth just sucked into itself just from hearing this
Island Sanctuary ends up playing a lot more like WoD garrisons than some people want to admit, because of how much it's gameplay loop ends up revolving around ordering the mammets around.
I've not engaged with anything in there outside of the hub with the mammets for 2+ months now, and I'm still collecting 10-15k+ cowries a week through their gathering expeditions alone being enough to keep the workshop flowing indefinitely. It's a deeply flawed piece of content if their intention were for people to play it more like e.g a harvest moon game, and less a facebook tier management chore of a "game".

Sounds just like any patch quests that get released, seasonal events, fates and hunts.
Technically every quest expands the lore and almost everything is unlocked through a quest.
A lot of people say that about this game actually. If you don't log in frequently you may get overwhelmed with the amount of content, you can do for free.
They compensate players for bugs and maintenances.
If the maintenance is longer than 24 hours, we are given subscription time.
4 raids or an alliance raid, but either way they contain lots of bosses.1 raid or sometimes nothing.
All of this is ignoring the minor patches that release further content such as beast tribes, deep dungeons, criterion dungeons, relic stuff, pvp, blue mage stuff, updates to island sanctuary, the gold saucer or ocean fishing, new triple triad matches and all of the high-end content.
Unless you're into grindy content such as mounts or social/RP content, an MMORPG will never feel like it has much content. The grinds or the social features are what are going to take the majority of your time in them, because the stories sure won't. Has there ever been a single player story game that doesn't get completed within a few days (ignoring grinds and achievements)?
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

None of this really matters to me. I was once retired from MMOs, partly because I would start to enjoy them and they would get cancelled. I've been in worse / more draining raiding scenes than this. This game (as its been in recent years) is legit refreshing.Look Genshin Impact for example.
One of their major events consists of exploring an entire new zone/map for limited time with unique quests/stories and rewards.
Sometimes they release events that consist of expanding the lore and adds game mechanics
If you don't log in frequently you may get overwhelmed with the amount of content, you can do for free.
Sometimes you are in a hurry because there are 2-3 major events stacked in your log.
They compensate players for bugs and maintenances.
vs
1 major update ever 3-4 months that consists of 3 hours of MSQ (mostly cutscenes/text )
1 trial
1 Dungeon ( now that mobs don't even give you exp/gils they are just there for make the dungeon last 15 minutes instead of 5)
1 raid or sometimes nothing.
1 late event or sometimes nothing at all ( basically recycle the same event from years ago but now you talk to a different npc ; -> go to a - >b - > a (again) -> here is your reward see ya next year)
everything done in less than 3 days if you play even in the most casual way.
Just look we got again the same moogle tomes .. I'm so hype to pay 15 usd again and farm CT raids for 2304924238490230420480984579385 time and get mounts that I can't use on cities(even new ones like old sharlayan) because devs refuses to update old zones or improve major cities.
Raiding its ok I guess if you actually care about farming the same gear that you already own with normal tomes but +10 item level and dyable.
I encourage people to take breaks because I've burnt myself out in the past. I've actually kept my sub for most of my 3 years here. (I took the first December off for the holiday.) I learned from past mistakes. I pace myself. If I'm not feeling well, I'm not playing. I don't get upset about the development cycle because it's out of my control. I'm not optimizing the fun out of this by making lists of every little piece of content that's offered. That level of nitpicking in your lists... I'll be glad if I never meet you in game because this is very toxic and I definitely don't want to see this in game or hear about it on a call. You're looking for excuses not to play. There's a simple solution: don't play. Don't drag others into your misery or try to validate your feelings in a public space. Just take some time out for yourself.
