The issue isn't the engine. At all. The game may be old, but there are older games with more or less similar graphical fidelity that allow for stuff like this. Not to mention...

a) You literally had better quality years ago, meaning it was always feasible for them to make form-fitting gear for Miqo'te
b) Devs now have more time between patches to work on FF14
c) Gear showing racial traits was always within the scope and capabilities of the engine. The engine is only so far of an excuse, anything else comes from minimum requirements which have been increasing in the past few years anyway.

TESO might not have as good looking polygons, but they do come close to FF14 off the top of my head. And those don't sacrifice racial traits half as often as FF14 is resorting to do.

There have been so many hats my non-miqo friend in the fc will go oh you might like this! Link it in chat and I do. I do like it. I would have LOVED to wear it.....except(and now she's at the point where she mentions 'hopefully this shows your ears? I know you'll like it if it does' since this has been happening more and more since Shadowbringers) it makes my ears disappear. And here's the thing. I have cats. I grew up with cats. I've lived in a house with at least one if not more cats for almost thirty years now. So I am quite good at imagining how things would work. For my ears to have disappeared like that. And there are some hats I am okay with it. (My poor character's hearing must get really bad in them but that's a different thing we're not on that topic) Because the hat is tall/wide enough for me to know the ears WOULD be able to sit comfortably underneath it. But so many hats I look at and KNOW that if I were to actually put that on someone with cat ears they would be in AGONY. Yes a cat will flatten their ears against their head. Yes they can keep this up for a while. But not forever. And forcing it can hurt. And some hats are so close-fitting that it would be like you'd like taped your ears to your head. Smashed them down like you're improperly binding and it would NOT be comfortable. Especially long term.

And I'm a Miqo because I wanna be a cat girl. I have many alts and while a decent chunk are miqo'te. A decent chunk aren't. If I wanted to play something that wasn't a catgirl(or boy I have a catboy alt) I would...go play one of them as my main. But I don't. Because that's not what I wanna do. Taking away Serenity's ears looks weird, makes her look unnatural, and it just is stripping the racial features away.(And I'm not gonna lie is one of the reasons that while I like Reaper. I will not be playing it much(especially as it is at 90) except for leveling it to every new expansion cap. Which I kinda hate. I LIKE how Reaper plays. I like it a lot. But because of the constant stripping away of one of my most prominent racial features the fact that one of the Reaper's Big Things completely strips any racial features away from me....turns me off it. I would probably have been cool with it if there hadn't been this build-up with gear of stripping our features away. I can see in that step sideways world where SE didn't slowly ramp up the hats that took away our ears how I wouldn't have minded too much. But sadly this isn't that world. As much as I wish it was.)

No, it's been pretty unacceptable from the get go. I'd wager the Venn-diagram of people complaining about miqo'te and viera/hrothgar is basically a circle.

People have been complaining about it the moment they announced Viera and Hrothgar couldn't wear most headgear. The issue with miqo'te specifically is that it has become more and more glaring and they actually lost stuff they used to have.

Both cases are equally bad imo and always have been.

No, it's not. We have had plenty of Miqo'te in our forums expressing their distaste and lack of support for our races. It's literally why we kept telling people "It will happen one day to you too, and you'd like us to be there and help raise the issue when it does". Lo and behold, this thread.

Both cases are not equally bad. It started with Hrothgar and Viera, and arguably is worse for the two races bc they have limtiations you guys don't have. Thus making that assessment incredibly myopic.

The people who have been complaining about this were primarily Hrothgar and Viera players, with a coinflip whether other races would support us or present disdain.

However, the main concern for you guys is the removal of racial traits on equipment. And that's what gives a fantasy world a lot of variety. Not turning everyone into a Hyur. Like you said, the issue with Hrothgar and Viera is that they never had it; Miqo'te have had it, and now they're starting to lose it. Why is this?

Keep in mind, this isn't me revoking my support for you guys. But no, the boat we're on isn't the same, and even if it were, you guys are above on the deck, other races are far below on the sinking part, drowning.

After playing Viera for two years and getting back to Miqo a few weeks ago, no, both cases are not equally bad, at all.
As a Miqo, yes I’m piss off to see my ears disappear with new hats ! But at least I can wear them, period. And I’m not speaking about full access to hairstyles. I was kind of relieved to get back to catgirl. This isn’t normal.

Viera and Hrothgars sail on a much heavier boat, and some of their issues are coming to other non Hyur races. This is one of the reasons everyone should have supported Hrothgars and Viera players since the very beginning, even if you don’t like those races. By respect for people who love them and for the future of the glamour implementation as well.

We can also write another chapter on races with tails. A lot of players are affected by some SE laziness!

If SE didn't want to do the extra work on head gear, then they should never bring out any races with other than human type ears. SE just being very lazy, and it really needs to stop. They could fix the problem in 7.0 and remove the head gear armor slot like did with belts.

Indeed, the races are there to provide differentiation. What is the point of having races if they are all becoming the same blob when it comes to gear? Please help make them different and stand out SE, as they were originally intended and designed to do. Don't do away with its purpose.

This is factually untrue. It didn't start with Hrothgar and Viera. It started at the same time. The expansion Hroth and Viera released where when they started doing it to old races on all gear too. Whatever changed at SE affected everyone, so it's the same problem.

Your extreme hyperbole aside, not sure why you're trying to turn this into some weird "we have it worse than you" thing. It's all wrong on SE's part and always has been.
