It's not like SE couldn't expand or pour more resources in this 14. The majority of the profits from 14 are placed into other projects, rather than returned to 14 itself.

Welcome to the world of commerce, where a corporation with multiple interests - publishing, music, mobile games, regular video games, and MMORPGs - invests some of the profits into other areas of the company so that they can remain profitable. Maximizing profits while maintaining costs is what every company strives to achieve.

I suspect that the number of "free agent" experienced game developers, who read and speak Japanese fluently and are willing to move to Japan, is much smaller than people assume. Or am I missing something every time the Producer requests game developers with those qualities contact Square Enix because they're hiring?

To all Hrothgars and Vieras, Apo hears and feels you but this is a thread about Miqo'te hats. There's plenty of threads about the issue in question and we're all on the same boat, so pls use this thread to help support our cause, instead of bringing up what is already brought up in so many other threads :c We all want our racial elements back (and our hats!)

Your situation led to our situation. Square grew complacent doing this sort of thing toward both Miqo'te and Au Ra. Your racial elements being ignored for the sake of consistency and time-saving led to two races being poorly designed.

The one issue I take with Aporis's statement is that in those very same "Hrothgar and Viera threads", you have quite a fair number of Miqo'te players to come to ours and leave often scathing messages and lack of support. Sure, not every Miqo'te player did that... but enough did. That's the hypocrisy of the situation. We warned you. Multiple times. People kept telling us to shut up. And now you're telling those players to get lost because "this is a Miqo'te thread"? Your problems led to ours. Many saw the writing on the wall and warned you that our problem could one day become yours. We asked to please have some empathy before it happened to you. And so many players ignored the problem because it was our races the ones having these issues. Don't go Surprised-Pikachu-Face now. They told you it would happen and to have a bit more empathy before it did. And now that it has, you expect those players to suddenly feel sorry and have empathy for you?
I'm not saying I agree that we should respond with eye-for-an-eye. Because as I'll say in the last two lines below, there's more to this that can benefit everyone if people allow Miqo'te to express their own concerns. But I am saying that it's understandable that a lot of players feel skeptical and uncooperative. You want empathy, you should have started fostering it sooner. Thankfully, however, not everyone was a Grade A idiot, and to the Miqo'te and Au Ra (and other assorted races) who expressed their support in those threads, thank you. And it's thanks to those people that I will say this:

I agree Aporis. Just because Hrothgar and Viera have it worse and stem from Square Enix being laissez-faire on Miqo'te and Au Ra, it doesn't mean that Miqo'te and Au Ra can't address their issues. They can, and they should. And for that, I 100% support you guys. Keep talking about this, address these issues as you guys see fit.

I said as much on the first page. We do have a lot of threads on Hrothgar and Viera. And regardless of what a few, very vocal Miqo'te players may have said, I just wish Hrothgar and Viera players can rise above that and allow Miqo'te to also have their voice. Especially since the more races come forward and appreciate the different traits that make them different than Hyurs, the better we can combat the underlying issue of racial traits being thrown under the bus. If Miqo'te can garner that attention, it might then benefit Au Ra, Viera, Hrothgar and who knows who else.

I don't think it should be an issue to divide between Miqo'te/Au Ra and Viera/Hrothgar. Rather, something to unite over. Yukki made a great post - it's all the same thing of cutting corners and not adjusting gear based on race. There needn't be "camps" where one co-opts the thread of another, at the end of the day we're all playing the same game. I've Fantasia-d across Miqo'te, Au Ra and now Viera myself, and always craved a toggle to show/hide ears, horns or tails no matter what race.

I agree with you kind Midare! I was mostly just trying to address those who came to this thread to post nothing but "What about viera?" or sum such. :c Here's hoping if these threads gain enough traction the devs will hear us and eventually do something about it.

Im only presenting a reasonable point about the overuse comment about "well if modders can do X" which I personally feel is total bs.

Yeah, and dw, I understand. It is a dumb thing to do. It's why I was quick to answer Renalt on page 1, because I knew that some people woudl bring up Hrothgar and Viera.

As valid as the sentiment may be, this is still a Miqo'te thread, and we should be supporting eachother to enjoy the game's diversity. Not shun eachother.

The important takeaway right now is this:
- Square's been removing racial traits from other races
- Hyurification is a tendency that's frustrating people
So let's come together and fix it.

Hats have been a problem for Miqo'te for at least as long as Hrothgar and Viera have been a thing. You didn't have a chance to presciently warn other players of some future event.

They have, but not as prominently. Like OP said, they have been complaining for years.

As clever as I thought the miqote ear extensions/holes on headgear were back in ARR, at this point I wish there were alternate versions that don't include them. There a handful of cosmetic items that have them that I think clash badly with the look of the hat.
