I don't think it should be an issue to divide between Miqo'te/Au Ra and Viera/Hrothgar. Rather, something to unite over. Yukki made a great post - it's all the same thing of cutting corners and not adjusting gear based on race. There needn't be "camps" where one co-opts the thread of another, at the end of the day we're all playing the same game. I've Fantasia-d across Miqo'te, Au Ra and now Viera myself, and always craved a toggle to show/hide ears, horns or tails no matter what race.
Mortal Fist
You people seriously enjoy assuming things dont you.
Im only presenting a reasonable point about the overuse comment about "well if modders can do X" which I personally feel is total bs.
But like I said, this doesnt completely excuse SE for gimping out.

As clever as I thought the miqote ear extensions/holes on headgear were back in ARR, at this point I wish there were alternate versions that don't include them. There a handful of cosmetic items that have them that I think clash badly with the look of the hat.
It's miserable at how bad square is when it comes to equipment and characters with tails/ears.
I'm sorry but if you release a game with races that have unique body parts that need minor adjustments to gear in order for them to work then you should have factored that into the equation before releasing said races. It's inexcusable that Square and the devs have been skirting around this issue for years now. Complete and utter laziness imo. I really, really wish they would do a single patch cycle/version (not a major patch.. just like, a .5 or something) that's entirely about just... fixing the various things like this. Go through and spitshine everything across all races and genders, y'know?

It's why I eventually became a lalafell on my main
Not having my ears correctly poke through hats frustrates me to no end
Viera & Hroth suffer the same issues - hats are simply no longer made for miqo'te & they were never made with au ra in mind
And Viera & Hrothgar are an afterthought on a forgotten backburner
The only way to get traction is to read what I've just wrote & keep making noise & asking those questions over & over.
This game company can absolutely give us a better character creator
It can absolutely give us outfits designed better for beast races in mind
But it won't because threads like this are far to few & the same type of noise needs to be made on the JP forum & other forums as well.
Keep at it- I do with my hairstyle threads because If I don't noone else will
Honestly, I wouldve just been happy if they kept with the original base races, at least then they wouldve given better attention to all of them and keep with the uniqueness of the usual archetypes. This is total contraversial opinion on my part yes but playable Au Ra, Hrothgar and Viera were a mistake on their end.Hold it there, girlie. When you say "Caved in", you're implying both races were demanded by fans. Only one of them was. Yoshida stated very clearly that Hrothgar were their own project and that they wanted to add it to the game (it, or at least a beast race entirely, as they experimented with the Lupines prior to see how people would react to their inclusion). It was fans asking for Viera for years since them unveiling discarded artwork for playable Vieras that had them reconsider and add them as the female counterpart to Hrothgar.
Say what you will about Viera, that's for Viera players to justify. But Hrothgar were intended to be added with them experimenting since literally the making of Stormblood. Meaning they wouldn't have gone through it if they didn't think it was feasible. At no point is this the race's fault. But rather the decisions taken and the organization status of the group making this game.
Otherwise, look into a mirror, please. You're literally playing a race they added after ARR with several discarded designs yourself. Were Au Ra a race that should never have been released? What, with all the clipping you guys have with your horns and by your standards, could have fooled me.
The answer isn't obvious.
And it sure as hell doesn't justify what they're now doing to Miqo'te.
Maybe. But the damage is done, and constantly bickering about the race isn't gonna make this any better. Besides, it's normal for MMOs to introduce new races from time to time.Honestly, I wouldve just been happy if they kept with the original base races, at least then they wouldve given better attention to all of them and keep with the uniqueness of the usual archetypes. This is total contraversial opinion on my part yes but playable Au Ra, Hrothgar and Viera were a mistake on their end.
On that aspect, shouldn't you also include male Miqo'te and female Roegadyn in that list? They were added due to fan demand past 1.0. hehe.
Ok but no seriously. To those people who have the mindset Azuri has, tough; those races aren't going anywhere and they have people who love playing them. As do every other race. And if anything, I'd argue these races contribute the most to the game having visual diversity. Personally, that's something to be celebrated. And under no circumstance were these races the reason things aren't being done for them or other races.
Square Enix operates under Agile Development. At some point when planning out their Sprints, they should have planned for these races and the races that already existed. They chose not to. They chose to focus on other things instead, and even those didn't always come out "peachy". I understand budget, I understand timing, I understand minimal requirements and I understand that not everything is up to the team itself to decide and do. But just because those are understandable, it doesn't stop them from being hindrances that should have been accounted for. And those are far more believable than blaming the races for their state and that of others.
Say whatever you want about WoW. At least the races there actually feel unique.
i hate posts like this because they address nothing and it just spits on those with valid complaints.Honestly, I wouldve just been happy if they kept with the original base races, at least then they wouldve given better attention to all of them and keep with the uniqueness of the usual archetypes. they're here and they're here to stay. it doesn't matter if you would've been just fine with the og races (although no offense but as far as i can tell you -weren't- around when the og races /were/ the og races unless this is an alt account in which case i apologize) -- what matters is that they exist.
additionally mitoques /are/ og races and they're suffering as well. not as severely as the others you listed... although ironically i see that you play male roe. how's it feel being a race that's consistently forgotten about and never taken into account when it comes to housing items? hope you're not having too much trouble struggling to use stairs or lofts.
I think that's his alt. He had a male Highlander Hyur until quite recently as his profile image.
