    Colour can be a bit iffy because of monitor settings. Yes, even monochrome contrast :x Black text and white text may also be a bit hard to read in the middle of all the crap we have going on in the game. Attacks that are too bright or too dim can end up making legibility an issue.

    Overall, the icons are fine. They're easy to identify by shape alone. Whether they're the most appropriate or not is beyond me.

    Yes, I am, I've mentioned as much several times. It's mild, it's actually an anomaly, so I can still see more colour than full-on colourblind people but... still.

    Secondly, colourblind people can detect black cast bars from white cast bars. That isn't the problem I'm getting at. Even for normal-sighted people, monochromatic casts can be a bit hard to spot, especially with all the flashy stuff going on in the background. Changes in brightness (I used "contrast" before, it's the wrong term. I was thinking of brightness, which is the monochrome values between black and white) aren't as perceptible as colour saturation or shapes, which is why some stuff in the game does more than just give you a cute colour. Example? Interruptible casts. They pulsate. That's there for a reason, because you can't rely on colour alone, nor brightness for that matter. Again, not just because of colourblind people, you're the one fixating on that. I'm including different kinds of technology, because monitors aren't all set up the same way.

    Hell. You know what saves me half the time in stuff like Bozja's Mandragora FATE or Kampeos Harma from P2S? The fact that the AoEs of the Mandragora have patterns and the dice symbols are squares or triangles. Shapes are far more intuitive than colour and brightness settings.

    Unlike SE's shoddy UI crew, the Damage Info Plugin actually allows you to change the color of the Damage numbers and Cast Bars to their correspondent Damage Types, so color blind people can adjust the colors to the point they can tell the difference.

    That'd honestly be really good. Because if you can change the colour freely like we can with character names, it'd be so much better. Achromatic and people with Tritanopia will still need to adjust more than others, so the icons do help a fair bit... But being able to change the colour of things would be a godsent.

    Because here's the thing. The game has a colourblind filter. It doesn't do much. It just lowers the effects of some colours. And you may think "well, that can help, it's specifically designed for that + it even helps that they acknowledge different types of colourblindness"...
    :x except it doesn't always work out.
    E9S just looks purple with a super faint green. P2S's Kampeos Harma's colours look no different on the setting that's meant for me. And to make it worse, P3 in general is just horrible. And I know you're referring to text, but jeez >_<;; some AoEs and effects need an overhaul.

    The UI needs a rehaul too, I agree. I get that they're going for a stylized UI to blend with the old-timey fantasy aesthetics they have, but I prefer the simple settings because they're far easier to spot. Older menus have this weird frame around them that takes up far more space than it should.

    Edit: For reference, these are the settings I use.

    I don't run the game all the time with it because it dims the game a lot. And like I said, it's a mild one, so I can tell that something shifted. I only use it for instances where I know I need it. This in E9S didn't help :| it just made the purples blend more. I feel like it helps set apart stuff like magentas from purples because it makes the 1 and A markers different from 4 and D. But if stuff's just different shades of purple or different shades of orange I'm just like "????".

    I am super curious about that comment and that he said something like he couldn't properly explain it yet.

    Well I don't know what problem you're getting at because in the next post when someone else describes the exact same plugin as I did, you suddenly think it's great. So I guess we agree.

    The point of being able to customize the cast bar is to see the damage type before the cast finishes, so you can apply damage reduction in time for it to work. That's why these new icons are worse than the plugin. They show up on your screen after you're already hit.
