    Thanks for getting the thread back on track. I was tempted to try and get my own thread nuked by posting otter pictures. Speaking of Island Sanctuary QoL I'm so glad we will get a notification that someone has popped onto our Island. Another why was this not a thing from the start.

    No, I'm not ignoring it.

    I am, however, pointing out to the timing between stuff a couple people have asked for versus stuff people have been clamouring for years and they kept insisting on otherwise.
    There's a difference.
    I'm not blind, Atelier. I'm just not going to throw every bone I see for the hell of it. Some stuff needs to be called out, and while this is great, "better late than never" is a dumb response and it makes me question just how often fans have to do things before Square realizes it's what people want.

    I know I sound harsh. And I probably am. But at the same time, there has to be a limit because some stuff are truly so simple. You can argue stuff like inventory space requires more actual RAM or better housing implies better servers; so those are more complicated and do have an excuse. What's the excuse for cosmetic changes such as damage types?
    "It breaks the game"? Hasn't broken anything once guides came out and people mitigated it like normal. If anything it's for the better because now people don't have to wonder why they pressed Dark Mind and yet the giant laser says "-15% Parried".
    Or the timers on the party list.

    We should have had this far earlier on. And with how often people have asked for this, stuff like this should be a priority to look into. I'm pointing out that it not being so versus other stuff that we got that very few people asked for is skewed priorities. Not whether or not they've been acquiescing to QoL at all. They have. But this has been asked for for years in comparison to some others. That's the problem.

    So... yeah, I'm not ignoring it. I'm only focusing on this one in particular. Some stuff should have come far earlier given the feedback that existed for it. Other QoL not as much. Doesn't mean I'm not grateful it exists, but some of their choices are weird.
    Otherwise, it's not even past QoLs, this expansion has more stuff to it, including stuff for Island Sanctuary. Whiiiich...

    While otter pictures would be far more pleasant...

    Honestly that I can kind of forgive them for not thinking earlier, if anything on the grounds of multitudes of people visiting their friends when the feature was a novelty. Imagine if you have your whole FC + some of your friends/linkshell coming to visit :x won't you be spammed with a bunch of notifications?

    I'd have to have friends or FC mates that would want to come visit my island let alone 15 of them all at the same time. Yes, otters would have been nice to see until the mods deleted the thread cause that's what would have happened. I half jokingly feel that the devs get worn out when they get asked some QoL after being asked dumb questions like the peaches question. Yay we have some now. Just not gather-able. Or after having to yet again be asked the same question that isn't probably going to get a different answer than the last few times it's been asked.

    Alright, before people further mislabel me as a SE simp, I only said the "if it aint broke" statement was just me providing an explanation from a business perspective. That never meant that I necessarily agree with it, I wish and want for the team to better address these additions in a more timely manner.

    Thats being said, what I said still rings true. No matter what way you look at it, QoL is still QoL. Just because weve been getting these changes doesnt mean the game suddenly became playable. Unlike modders who arent at the mercy of any higher ups or part of a dev team adhering to schedules and other priorities, the people responsible for these systems have to manage the current game, which is a reason why changes to older content isnt always a simple thing, unless an issue becomes very severe where it requires a all hands on deck.

    Again there is a reason why they prioritize what they do.

    Damage Info also has Casting indicators which the castbar is the color of the type of Attack it is and they have Positional indicators so if you hit your positional the Damage numbers color changes to Red.

    Would've been much easier for the UI crew to just change the Damage numbers color

    Yellow = Physical
    Blue = Magical

    Simple straightforward and no needless clutter. The Damage Indicators they are presenting is like a Chinese knockoff
    So, no colorblind players in your version of this game, then?

    I never called you an SE simp, nor was I intending to. If other people are doing that then they should be better acquainted with your post history.

    And as I said. I never denied QoL was QoL and that this wasn't nice. But I very much doubt it's that clear-cut with "well, they have to adhere to schedules and other stuff". Quite a lot of what we got in the game isn't an all-hands on deck situation. At all. Especially in the QoL department. There may be a reason why they prioritize things the way they do, but then people shouldn't pikachu-face that modders and plugin makers are so proliffic. Because, again, there's quite a fair bit that got added into the game that's honestly questionable vs stuff that fans have been collectively pointing for years.

    Meaning even if there is a reason for it, it doesn't mean the priority they have is exempt from criticism. There's plenty of other QoL in the game, and in no way's this bad. But neither is the feeling people have that "this should have come sooner".

    But before people further mislabel me as only hating on Square's decisions, I'll just leave it at that. I do think there's decisions they take that are really, really questionable. But so too do every other company :shrug: still a game. Still what seems to be the only MMO lately that stays afloat with a community that doesn't feel constantly tired of playing it. Questionable doesn't have to mean "suspicious" or "malicious". Especially because if you look at the context of the dev team and the game's development, it clearly isn't malicious or them being Blizzard-levels of arsehole. Just "Really? What's your prerrogative?"

    I think it actually comes down to the fact that they've been able to properly expand the team in the last couple years and pour in more resources, which is odd because 10 years down the road is usually when things start to get trimmed down.

    Imagine if the devs let you fully customize the color and border color of the castbars (including black & white options) based on what the incoming damage type is. Must be impossible, heh heh... They could have used a color palette system like in the health bar customization menu yet they only give these cheap looking icons.

    or, they could use the symbols that they've used in past games, on the character screen, and in P5N?
