you could show me literally any Hrothgar that has appeared in MSQ or Bozja side-by-side and I couldn't tell you which is which, at least all the elezen look different to eachother (apart from Alphi and Alisaie but that's on purpose)The hell kind of answer even is this...
Yes, because the constant Elezen spam totally makes them memorable. If they managed to make them look memorable, then they can do it with Hrothgar.
Also, idk, personality? People do know the difference between Magnus and Runar, right?

I certainly don't blame people who think a lot of Hrothgar's look alike, but with not too many options for Helion colors combined with the state of their hairstyles of course things will get repetitive. That's why the race as a whole needs more attention to get it up to speed - I would like to think that a Hrothgar party member would have their own unique hairstyle like both Y'shtola, Estinien, Thancred, the twins, and Ryne have gotten over the years. The only one to stick out like a sore thumb in that department is Urianger, who reuses a hairstyle from Final Fantasy Type-0.

Says the female Au Ra with that face. At least you got some points for being a Raen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On a more serious note though, clothes indeed affect a design a lot. There's a reason why almost all the main npcs have either unique outfits or unique models that can't be copied by players. Heck, Thancred and Urianger are even just wearing the generic job gear, it's not even uniquely dyed - the only reason they're "memorable" is because we've spent the last decade around them

To be fair, I think All Saints' Wake this year showed how many hroths square thinks are worth remembering. But hey, we're having a new adventure so I think there is a space for an important hroth and viera.

Exactly! Unique hairstyles and clothing go a long way. That, and having a memorable personality/story role.I certainly don't blame people who think a lot of Hrothgar's look alike, but with not too many options for Helion colors combined with the state of their hairstyles of course things will get repetitive. I'm hoping that more (quality) attention is poured into Hrothgar over the next ten years. Having a reoccurring Hrothgar companion in the MSQ would help with that.
Quoted for truth. I really hope they don't add any Hroth to the scions.
We could do with a little more class diversity though. None of the scions play as a physical ranged DPS, so a Viera bard would be a welcome addition.
Yeah. And that's a problem. But instead of saying "Don't make more NPCs, I can't tell them apart", tell them to improve on the race and add more to it so that you can.
Because the image you're sending is that you have absolutely no care. Also, if you can't tell them apart, then DAMN GIRL, YOU BLIND..
Ah, another person mistaking opinion for facts. Love to see 'em.
Care to say why you don't want them to add those, but want Viera instead? Go on, show people that you're full of hate. Because I have zero care whether they add any sort of NPC, including more Elezen. I at least don't stunt a race from having more representation.

Seriously, what are these backwards takes some people have ?
And it's not like we never get unique looking important characters...
Last patch we just got Zero who have a custom model. So even if they don't fix Hrothgar right away, then can perfectly make a unique looking Hrothgar teammate.
But no let's just disregard an entire race, we can have a third Miqo'te instead right ?
I'd say a lot of it is that they feel unique, pretty much no one except cosplayers design their characters like Thancred or Urianger and even then the cosplayers are pretty rare (Y'shtola excluded, she's pretty much only memorable because we've known her for so long and she has unique clothes)Says the female Au Ra with that face. At least you got some points for being a Raen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

a lot of people complain about the white hair that a lot of the main cast have but from what I've seen white hair is pretty damn rare among the playerbase, which makes it the perfect color to make characters feel more unique without making them look stupid with some neon color 0.1% of the playerbase uses
if they added a generic catgirl or lizardgirl to the main cast then she wouldn't be very memorable because theres thousands of those and the player themselves might just happen to look near identical to her so they'd have to do something unique with her to make her stick out
this may be just me but the Jaw and Eye Shape options on Hrothgar just don't affect them as much as on humanoid races, the whole "beast" thing completely overpowers every other part of the design and makes them all look the same, so unless they miraculously revamp Hrothgar customization in a way to fix that (which, frankly, I don't think is possible) or figure out a way to make a Hrothgar actually stick out from the rest the MC hrothgar is just gonna look like every other hrothgar in the game

There are ways. All one needs is creativity™
Also, other races have changes that barely affect them in any way, most notably in the Eye Size option. You're really saying "No" just because you think they won't stand out? There are so many ways to make them stand out, if anything just out of sheer virtue that they're a Hrothgar, the 2nd most different race in the whole game after Lalafell.
If you want distinctions between races, then sorry to tell you but the only way I can tell you're different is if I zoom in on your Au Ra face. Because otherwise you female Au Ra look no different to me than a Miqo'te. The scales? Too minor to tell, especially if you wear gear. Horns? No different than ears, and if you're wearing hats it's even worse. That's still no excuse to want at least one member on the limelight. I'd bat zero eyes if we had a Y'shtola-looking or Sadu-looking Au Ra girl on the Scions. None.
And let me tell you, you look exactly like my first ever friend in Final Fantasy XIV. And you know what I say to that? "You both have good tastes", bc the horns look fab. The isue is that I can't tell you guys have horns half the time unless I zoom in bc they're that slender.
Though on the topic of Hrothgar looking "same-y", I won't dispute that Square DID screw us over by making only 2 decent faces and the rest are off-putting. That I blame on Square Enix and there ARE ways of adding more to the race to make them stand out and cool without looking gaudy. But to say that Hrothgar aren't memorable enough to be included in the Scions...?
Plus, people forget that they make different models and faces for characters that are unique. If they wanted to, they could make a Hrothgar that did 100% stand out. So don't compare these NPCs to players too much.
