Victimhood? You mean Brian and Chris or the people critial of them? Either way, Brian pointed out in a video he's leaving FFXIV for New World because he feels the FFXIV community it to rigged when it comes to ideas that promote change.
I've watched Asmongold and Xenosys' reactions to his video and pretty they both said that its a good thing he's stepping away for the time being, because Brian also wants to spend more time with his family, but also that Brian needs to just ignore the more negative/angry comments towards and stop taking things so seriously wihen it comes to those specific comments.
That, and Brian claims New World devs actually want to shake up their gaming formula, while FFXIV's devs seem to scared to step outside the one they've developed.
So he is going to the other mmorpg I play. maybe New World will get even better now.
I can tell you right now that classic wow destroys that concept given in TBC faction balance eventually turned every pvp server into a pve server since you have mega servers that either 99% horde or alliance. Even in vanilla classic after BWL was released the only interaction you had with the world was entirely centered around getting world buffs for raid and then raid logging your character after raiding Tuesday or Wednesday. Your socialization moved to the Discord servers for your guild and for your own server.Yes we have party finder, but xiv 2.0 and on was designed around more than just that. In world of Warcraft, vanilla especially, it was all about exploring the world, partying with random players, adding them to your friends list. Dungeon needs were basically built around chat and meeting to get it done. They eventually implemented meeting stones which was nice.
The moment party finder was implemented, there was no need to socialize and communicate for dungeons in WoW.
The sad part is we know this is the result from countless years of mmo experience, factions that give advantages dont work because everyone will eventually join the winning one.
New world literally did the same thing, 3 factions and what happened was everyone just joined the winning faction that controlled the entire map to reap the benefits.
The fact mmo devs keep repeating the same mistakes over and over is depressing.
The tryhard elitist is the person who is going to finish their 5 pieces on this created to be beaten """"challenge"""" and then complaint that the baby, slower or less dexterous person are a problem which not only is toxic but indirectly implies that doing this basic created to be beaten task faster is an """achievement""" of """great skill""" which helps to falsely boost the elitist's self worth as that is their true motive, if challenge was truly their desire they would relish in the chance to do more than the rest.
The healthy person on the other hand will either let people finish their part or assist them for their self worth does not depend on solving basic puzzles created to be beaten, aka as a video game.
"I have 5 kids"
Say no more fam, understandable
"Stand up comedy"
....... ok, as long as it makes you happy
"New World"
An illusion!!! what are you hiding?
I m not sure I get it. Who is Brian and how is it relevant to FFXIV ?
I laugh at it though. He said he has family and wants to spend more time with them yet goes and plays another MMO. Isn't he going to have the same problem? MMO's take grind time XDVictimhood? Brian seems like the type of guy that can handle all that he does. A high functioning multitasker or whatever. Dudes insane, lol! A normal person would be absolutely crushed just taking care of 5 kids alone. Brian's super human or something. xD
I think mmos in general have a shelf life and it varies person-to-person. Once you’ve levelled +10 levels multiple times on multiple jobs, done relics for multiple jobs, done housing, etc etc, you’re used to all the systems and it’s hard to find enjoyment and it’s understandable if you get bored.
Once you get bored, you’re free to jump to other games and do whatever, or just afk in Limsa.
I think some people are just annoyed with the “I’m quitting 14, but will still cover news and go to fan fest” stance, as it could appear as being a bit disingenuous, as in, “I’m just really making this video for clickbait views and to spawn reaction videos after reaction videos and attention” and it’s kinda worked (if you look at YouTube, Reddit and this thread).
