Hating the new mog station restrictions.

Found the reason for the Mog Station restrictions lol. It's all about people selling emotes for a lot of money off those limited time things such as statues and the Eat Pizza thing.

Time to put those emotes up on Mog Station for $3.

This won't change. Bonus codes from SE's events, merchandise, OST and books etc can still be used and be registered in Mogstation. Meaning those who bought a soundtrack and does not want the code can still sell it (it will break TOS yes). I do hate those that sell the emote codes the same price as the statue itself. The only thing that was changed is "items purchased in mogstation" will go via "Buy for a friend" and not all items are applicable for this sadly.

More anxiously, it's almost certainly not SE's first really big chargeback event, either, which may have put them on especially high alert.

Don't forget the big panic of 2017, where thanks to them taking so long (it would take this event to spur them to do so) to implement a shopping cart on Mog Station, they received an avalanche of chargebacks in early Stormblood during a MS sale. So one might wonder just how close SE may in fact really be to being cut off by their payment provider

They absolutely shot themselves in the foot with this. It was stupid not to have a shopping cart in 2017 in the first place. Lord knows we'd been asking for it for years.

For those that weren't there: Because there was no cart, if you wanted to purchase several dyes for example, you had to do the same transaction several times. Banks were flagging this as fraudulent (because who would pay the same amount 5x in a row at the same vendor) and issuing chargebacks which saw the player banned. It was a real mess, all because SE were running a completely archaic system.

Originally, I didn't give the RMT announcement a second glance until multiple YouTube vids popped up regarding what the changes meant for us. I had skimmed it thinking all items were now available to send directly to friends, which was great, but didn't see that all items were no longer available until these vids brought it to my attention.

Everyone has multiple reasons for hating this. Mine specifically is that online store prizes, given away during FC events, are so limited now. In running my FC for over 6 years, not once has anyone requested an item from this list of things that are still available to gift:
-Costume sets/Weapon/Armor Cosmetics
-Furnishing/Housing Items
-Fantasia
-Story skips/boosts
-Dyes

Mounts & emotes, both and more of which can no longer be gifted, were always what my FC was interested in receiving for their prizes. This is so limiting to my members, and I really hope this bandaid solution is changed. No need to punish the players for a lack of proper RMT control.

Yeah when it comes to FC's mount giveaways were a big thing. They effectively killed it with this change.

Need to be friends for a minimum number of days, and only a subset of the store is available. No mounts, minions, or emotes can be gifted.

I'm friends with everyone in the FC. As I mentioned in my original message, those are the only items that can be gifted. That means no:
-Mounts
-Emotes
-Orchestrion Rolls
-Minions
-Face Paint
-Chocobo Barding
-Fashion Accessories

Right there with you. My FC has events that had always given away mounts and minions.. And now one of the leaders is stuck with stuff they bought for a halloween party and can't gift now.=

My fc is the same. We have done a Secret Santa event every year since 2013. Mogstation codes are hugely popular, especially as it is easy to check if the recipient doesnt have the mount or minion.

It was also a really nice option for our casual players who don't play a ton to have millions of Gil in game and preferred to spend a few dollars on a gift.

Edited to add: I can't help but feel like this is yet another massive blow to our attempts at community building on OCE. Our members of the FC there are more casual and gil purchases for gifts aren't an option for everyone. Plus it signifcantly hinders our prizes from events, obviously.

I'm just gonna say: Mounts and emotes were my favorite thing to gift. This is a bad call, plainly. People will RMT no matter what, and this only hurts regular players the most.
