    I'd say it's a double-edged sword.

If job specific story content stays, it may give each job their meaining. However, some jobs like PLD, WAR, and/or WHM story may become the laughing stock of job quests yet again unless they completely overhaul the story. And of course it doesn't help with the reputation the DRK job quests built.

In my opinion developers used the excuse that it would be hard to write a story that involved the job "mentors" in the Source for content in the First (assuming I have the names of Eorzea and Norvandt right). So they went with the role quest thing instead. The way role quests tied into the Shadowbringers story was great. However, it set a precedent going forward. They didn't have that excuse with EW since nearly the entire expansion takes place in the Source where our job mentors exist. But they went with role quests anyway.

We are at something like DoW/M jobs now. That's a lot of quests, even if it was limited to 5 quests (levels 80, 83, 85, 87, 90). However, I'm with the OP. I think we should have job quests and the job system is inextricably tied to the FF series. If anything, not having job quests should be a disappointed to most players of the series.

Also, no crafter quests since 70 either. They went with those facet or whatever type quests, similar to role quests, for DoH/L. Another disappointment.

If you people bothered to talk to those NPCs after finishing 6.0, you'll see that your actions didnt go unnoticed. Special mention to BSM and ALC, they have specific references about Garlemald and Old Sharlayan.

Maybe if you visited the npcs you'd see its not all dull *facepalm*

I am with you on this. I was really into the SCH job quests with the Tonberries and Alka Zolka and the post-ShB one was fantastic. I miss checking in with those old friends, not so much to learn because as others have said, we've kinda outclassed everyone at this point; but just to see how everything is progressing. I'm fine with not having a quest after every couple of levels, but at least let us circle back at the end of an EP to share news and such. Those quests and characters are a huge part of why I am attached to my job.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

I just enjoyed how both him and Dorgono were tsundere for each other. It amuses me and I'm interested to see more of them. This is mostly just me heavily biased towards roe characters and I just like to see more representation of them really.

anyway Curious Gorge is just one among many interesting job npcs that I like.

I miss the job quests too.
I can accept that SE can't keep up with writing a full questline for an ever increasing list of jobs each expansion, but it'd be nice if we got one quest to check in with those characters.

Half a minute of dialogue from NPCs that you have to actively look for isn't remotely close to an actual story quest

And I actually do go around talking to NPCs to see how their dialogue changes as the MSQ progresses. There's an actually insane amount of lore and personality shoved in places you'd literally never see if you didn't choose to search it out. It's just scattered in tiny bread crumbs over literal months.

But... well, I kind of think that's a huge part of the appeal of Jobs.

I was honestly pretty shocked when Shadowbringers didn't have any real Job quests, but you at least got a little epilogue. For Endwalker though, there's absolutely nothing.

It's not so much that "oh, the game is completely unplayable now". That would obviously be ridiculous. However, I WOULD say that it kind of contributes to a general feeling us "well, I guess the game is pretty much over now, roll credits". Which obviously ISN'T the case, but it kind of FEELS that way, to me anyways.

Moreover, those Job-specific storylines are what really help you CONNECT with your Job. I think that's part of the reason (among many others) that people seem to be gravitating more and more towards "the meta", because when you aren't getting that story-based RPG content for your favorite Job, you're ultimately left with little more than "a bunch of numbers". And you can ALWAYS compare numbers, and factor which job has higher numbers, and is therefore "better".

Now, I honestly don't need to learn a new ability every 2-3 levels trough a quest. It makes for a nice carrot-on-a-stick, but it's really not THAT important.

However, since Endwalker has introduced us to the idea of ARMOR that scales with your level, why not make THOSE your rewards?

Let's say you went back and added Job-quests to Shadowbringers. Maybe at level 72, you get your boots, which will level with you and scale to 80. Every two levels, you get a small progression, netting you legs, gloves, chest, and finally helm. Maybe the lvl 80 quest nets you the helm *and* weapon?

Same thing for Endwalker. Every two levels, you get boots, legs, gloves, chest, and maybe helm and weapon at 90.

I think that is FAR more exciting than simply "talking to a vendor" to acquire those.

But even if you don't offer ANY rewards at all, I still think that STORYTELLING content is really, really important. It's what makes you really feel connected to your favorite Job.

Because without that Story content, you're really just hitting a series of buttons without any greater meaning.
    It's a cookie-cutter game. Don't expect much!
