Its "demand". Think about everything you can use ore for:

1) To skill up a craft
2) to make mats which can be used to craft items

Finished products are just that, finished products..they have no use outside of their stats and MAYBE for a spiritbond. But again, those products can be made by buying ore. Ore is just infinitely more useful and versatile, thus has a greater demand, thus has a greater price. Its not so much stupidity as it is natural economics at work.

Crafters undercut because they can. Its not dumb, if they gathered all of their mats then every gil they make off of their products is pure profit. If you sell something at 180k to make a 20k profit, and I sell the same item for 80k, who wins? I gathered all my mats, thats 80k at pure profit. You bought your mats, and can only squeeze 20k profit. Even tho I sold at a much lower price, a "stupid" price, I made 4 times the amount you did...and probably sold out while yours is still sitting in the market. Nothing dumb about it, its just business.



See above. They dont ruin revenue, they are making way more revenue than everyone else selling at higher prices. Undercutting is only stupid if you can't afford to do it. But if you gathered all the mats, you can sell at whatever price you want and get a way better profit then ppl who didnt. Thats why everyone says level a DOL. Having a DOL lets you compete with ppl that have one. You will lose every time to someone with a DOL because they can go much lower than you and can still make way more money than you do. Not having a DOL is like showing up with a knife at a gun fight. You're stabbing yourself in the foot, walking in handicapped, and then say its stupid because "real men fight up close"

I don't think that was the issue. I believe the OP was complaining that it cst 80k to purchase the raw materials to make said item. Then said item was selling for 80k or less on the wards. Thus crying like a school girl with a skent knee, that he couldn't make a good profit. As you said, sometimes, if you mass crafting to level, you more concerned about dumping the items for space then you are about making gil. That can often put a damper on someones day, if they intended on making the items for cash revenue. So it boils down to the OP complaining that raw mats are two expecive and finish products in comparison are selling to cheap. I have often put high value items on the wards and been the 47th best price. Never bothered me, I can look at the history and see 50 had already sold already in that same day, so I know its selling easily 25+ day, I can wait a day or so to have it purchased at my price.

The OP on the other hand needs to throw an tantrum, and make his own cry baby thread about it.

I should've made my initial post JUST about +1 items. Those cost a lot of money to make AND you sometimes have at least 70% of not making a HQ item, if not 90% chance of failing. That's why I gave the example of the Zircon ring +1.

But alas, it don't matter, because people always miss the big picture and focus on anything they can use to attack/argue with the other person.

This isnt a hard concept to understand, you and the OP are just trolling. Its called capitalism. It amazes me how you deal with capitalism and never complain, yet all of a sudden now its a problem. Probably because in a capitalist society, you're a buyer so cheap prices make you happy. Next time you're in wal-mart and find something cheaper, tell them they're idiots...despite the fact that they are the most successful retail giant in the business. Please do, i'd love to hear the details of that conversation.

Guess what happens when I undercut. Mine sells, someone else's didnt. I still made a profit. Profit is profit..who cares if you could've made more. Holding out for more could mean not selling at all cuz someone else sold it cheaper. Ever traded stocks? I have. Know what happens when you hold out for more profit? You make 0 profit. You think a smart investor complains when he makes a 50% profit on anything? Heck no. You can call me stupid for taking 90k profit over 120k profit, but as I see it I have 90k in my pocket and you still have 0. If you think that makes me an idiot please, by all means, call me an idiot. Have fun trying to squeeze out 20k while ppl undercut you for bigger profits.

Because ppl that own Wal-Mart wan't to squeeze as much profit as possible while still not allowing room for competition!

Now if you could tell me that magic price where I know for sure someone won't undercut me I'd be happy to sell at it every single time. Unfortunately, in an MMO, I have way more competition than Wal-Mart does. Wal-Mart knows the operating margins of its competitors (its in SEC files), the amount of profit its competitors are making, the lowest price its competitors are likely to sell for, and only has a handful of retail corporations to even worry about.

Please tell me how i can get all that information from every player in the game that can possibly farm or sell ore without hacking into their computers. I'm waiting.


EDIT: Oh, and did I mention Wal-Mart has a legion of wealthy investors that demand as much profit as possible out of the company, or they'll fire the whole board of directors who will be out of a job~ Guess what? I dont have such investors to worry about, isn't life great.

Did you know a professional investor will take a small profit on a stock even tho he could hold longer and potentially sell it for more? I wonder why he does that. Funny thing is those ppl are richer than the ones who wait for the big pay days. There's this thing called scalping, you should look it up. Its an investment term. The results will amaze you.
