DPS balance is pretty bad. If you are going casual, the balance doesn't matter too much since you get carried by gear mostly. If you want to go hardcore eventually like you said, I would actually recommend learning two jobs within the same role.

Regardless of casual or hardcore, being able to flex within a role is an invaluable asset. Most of the time they share similar, if not the same, BiS so you can swap out easily. If you play both jobs at a decent level, you can choose which one to better fit the situation - PF or Static? Prog or Clear?

If that is not something that sounds appealing, just play RDM. It may be harder to find a party (i'm a mch i know the woes), but you will find one eventually.

Truth be told, I'm looking to learn and gear for Savage so I can start grinding to get the Eden mount; it was one of the few Sin-Eater mounts available, and I was looking to grab it for the sake of a glamour I was trying to make.

Yes, I am looking to take part in one of the hardest raids in the game for the sole purpose of fashion.

    That's previous expansion content.
Between expansions the damage gap is massive, if you get a group and get in unsynch, it will be very, very easy.
Boss could get killed in 2-3 minutes based on the content and the group, healing won't be a problem.

Huh. Wasn't actually expecting that; I figured that Eden would still be considered one of the harder raids. Good to know; I was planning on running Reaper for that one, though I'm still going to be grabbing the best gear I can get for the job before jumping in.

That, and I hope I can find a group for running the raid; last I checked - which was actually quite a while go, admittedly - you couldn't matchmake for Savage content through the Duty Finder, and none of my friends play FFXIV these days, so I'll try and see who I can find. It'll be a while before I can run the raid regardless, so I'm not too worried right now.

People are generally being very vocal about it and acting as if it's something recent but theirs always been a differences in jobs that are pretty big making one generally the "weakest" in it's category, the ranged tax is somewhat too high ect, the fact is you still can clear with any job so the balance isn't super broken, but could use some work.
This is well said, if the DPS check wasn't that tight, less jobs would have been locked out of PF.
    Not even MCH.

Before 6.2, the mentality was "You can clear with all jobs but some will be harder to clear with".
After 6.2 barely anything changed except the new mentality: "You can clear with all jobs but some will give you a very bad time.

It's still harder than most MSQ instance but not harder than the story trial for example.
If you go in Synchronized then yes it's going to be hard. But since your objective is the cosmetic, you don't have to do it the hard way.

Simply put, you go into a hard boss battle but you're overleveled and overgeared.
