Yeah I cant have much sympathy either xD if it was some regular dude in pictures, its very unlikely anyone would have sent him any money no matter how many pictures of his dead mom he would post.

I had a friend that used to do similar stuff, thankfully not this elaborate or with real life money but he used to pretend he was a girl in games and so many guys would give him stuff I was baffled that’s all it took xD

Had a couple of people I've met over the past few days grinding out levels, particularly in Heaven-On-High; rather pleasant, all things considered.

First one was a Lala that seemed utterly impossible to make sad; every single moment in Heaven-On-High with her had her cheering and showing joy with us, all the while doing a surprising amount of work with Machinist of all jobs. By luck or fate, we met a second time several hours later, still running the same jobs and outfits; it was a friendly little reunion that we sadly didn't get to replicate again, though I will say it was nice while it lasted! Happiest little mob boss I ever met... *sniff*

The second was a Roe that had a frankly unfitting name; "Blood-Crazed Berserker" or something similar. He was dressed in a remarkably fine and fashionable cowboy glamour, complete with ten-gallon hat and duster, and was a Dancer... and looking rather fine while doing it, if I do say so myself. It was weirdly entertaining, seeing this gigantic ballerina cowboy rip and tear through a variety of yokai and such while making a rather alarmingly accurate Axel impression with his chakrams, and I was fortunate to be able to run multiple runs through HOH with him, as well; sadly, like the Lala above, we had to go our separate ways, but it was still nice.

The third player I really remember standing out was this... dark and fiery edgelord, that had a full black set of spiky armor, along with a nice red cape, flaming horns on her helmet, and a shield that looked like a glowing ring of fire. Throughout most of the Shisui of the Violet Tides run, she didn't say a single thing; other than going through the enemy encounters with a terrifying amount of efficiency, there was no emoting... until we got to the final boss fight. At which point, the dark and fiery Paladin stopped, gave each of us - her three teammates - hugs, expressed her thanks for fighting with her, and then kickstarted the encounter. Naturally, the fight went off without a hitch, and we all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways... though it didn't stop me from meeting her again in Idyllshire a few hours later, while I was running some RDM quests. We didn't say anything to each other, and I doubt she recognized me regardless, but it still made me smile just a bit.

Mine too actually, I realised I don’t like the pressure of doing something with other people on a daily or weekly basis so now I tend to just join instances, dungeons, talk with the people there and go our separate ways.

    Same.

As much as I love the game, my experience of the social side of it hasn't been positive. I mean, I've certainly met people who either sent friend requests, or accepted one from me, and seemed really friendly during that initial contact - but then I never hear from them again and they 'blank' me if I happen to be in the same place as them.
My friend list is, aside from two friends from the MMO I used to play, pretty much empty.

Also had a bad experience with FCs. First one I joined was okay, but I moved Datacentre (was on NA but since live in the UK wanted to move to the EU DC) but the one I joined when moved homeworld seemed to have a fairly heavy RP emphasis (probably leaning a lot toward ERP), which wasn't really what I was looking for. And the second one I was kicked out of the other day, due to a situation where one of the FC members basically Catfished me (not financially I'll add), told the FC leader that I harassed her and reported me. So waiting to see whether I'll receive a ban at this point, since I was told that they were going to report me.

So yeah, assuming I don't get banned anyway, I don't really want anything to do with the social element of the game anymore. I was never particularly comfortable with the social side of things in the first place - it isn't something I've ever found easy in any setting - and the experiences I described really have put the nail in the coffin because I've been made to feel disposable, gullible and stupid.

One of my favourite memories is giving a random player some arrows as way back you had to make/buy them and use them for battle. It must have been in the Alpha test as I changed my name.

I always remember them shouting across the map to me as they went on their way "I will never forget you Wynter Lefae" well I have not forgotten you haha you owe me a stack of arrows! Jk lol

Well I met my FC lead by chance while doing ninja quests . . . Left old FC a few weeks ago so was feeling disorientated and mostly wanted to be alone

But it worked out in the end, do lots of events there and . . . Well they even hold me if I feel bad and stuff

And they help me with self confidence a bit

So write down any stories about people you met in game that ultimately meant a lot to you.

    Ill start:

I am an eso refugee, although I loved the storyline and strolling around, the combat often made me want to scratch my eyes out. Anyways that’s not what matters.

I started finally paying a sub to ffxiv after having a bunch of free trial accounts (sorry Yoshi :3) and lo and behold, my old eso friends (who quit way before I did) were hanging out around Gridania to my absolute bliss. They used the same character names even here.

One particular friend stuck with me a lot, we winded up getting married for the dresses, he bought a house since I was just new at the game and had no idea how to make gil, we were in the same FC, after mentoring an old eso guild somewhat together (it was his guild, I was helping people with whatever they needed) and things couldn’t have been better for a while.

Unfortunately the friendship had to end because more often than not, people playing and chatting together until six in the morning winds up in feelings being developed and when they are one-sided, jealousy shows its ugly mug.

Fast forward, I met a tiny lala that recruited me for their FCs, the tiny lala was a huge man with huge beard in real life which I often found very funny.
The fc leader was this amazing woman who would make a joke out of everything, another one was an older lady that just loved crafting and gathering, but we tried to get her in dungeons multiple times still.

We all kind of sucked, which was ok because we would rinse repeat every dungeon and most of the fun was being on discord together talking a lot of crap especially on our wine nights.

Ultimately I changed servers and not long after, everyone kind of stopped playing, it’s been years since I saw them online anymore but I still never forgot any of them.

Other encounter I still laugh at to this day is when I joined an extreme trial for the first time, told them I have never done it and I died so much to the point they started calling me “emotional support bunny” because it was the only thing I could provide at the time haha!

    Now your turn!
    That's wholesome. *Gives a like*
