I have a few amazing stories, but today I just wanna share an interaction that happened last night:
I was doing some side quests in Il Mheg, and by chance noticed a Sprout WHM going about her business. She noticed I made a comment on the Giant Beaver minion existing (though she couldn't see the NPC) and from there we just talked for a bit. She said she was enjoying the story a lot, but that it felt "very long" to which I agreed. I shared with her the Perma-Stun combo for dungeon pulls with Holy and showed her some of the higher level WHM skills. She seemed excited to continue her adventure, and after the little chat we just went our separate ways.
Just a small happy interaction!
Moving to Balmung has been a good move for me. I recently got terribly sick with fever and coughing fits ( I assume it was Covid ...probably caught it from work ) so I took some time off to recover. I'm in better shape but I still have no sense of taste and it has lasted for over a month and was seriously affecting my mood. I'm quite the drag to be around and it's hard to fake a good mood. I never thought I'd miss the taste of food and it's only more aggravating because my sense of smell is untouched. Everything smells greta...everything tastes like a foot.
Anyway I finally felt well enough to log in yesterday. I finished up the story as far as it would let me and then I went to my normal hangout spot in Uldah. I'm always just doing push-ups, Sit-ups, or squats in my spot. People will usually come up and join for whatever reason and that's pretty much how I met most of my friends list. Last night one of them paid me a visit and just sat down next to me and we talked for a bit. It was nice to just socialize with someone that wasn't from work ( I work in a retro game store that is also in short a pawn shop so we get a LOT of terrible people wanting to sell stolen stuff for drug money and it was NOT helping my mood ).

My best friend and I came from WoW and both of us had been on the recieving end of some violent homophobia there so we mostly keep to ourselves.
While we were queueing into a dungeon I forgot to switch the chat tab from party chat to our private linkshell and ended up saying something....I don't remember the exact details of what I said, I think it was about gay clubbing, but it very obviously outed us both. We both had a little freeze moment of fear and I felt awful (I am very protective of my best friend) that I had messed up and exposed her to danger.
Who do we zone in with but a guy with a hroth player named BigBeef ManLove and one of the most supportive and friendly dudebro Roe in the goddamn game. Our moment of fear quickly turned into the perfect icebreaker with the tank who was lovely and very supportive as I learnt to heal and our summoner roe kept cracking good natured jokes about the dungeon and our glams.
At the end BigBeef Manlove said "don't forget, the most important muscle is your heart!"
I will never forget either of them. It's been two years and we still call really friendly hroth and m!roe guys we meet "Big Beefs". I talk to people more openly in game now and don't worry as much and I'm always extra kind to new players thanks to their gentle instructions as I fumbled to learn scholar.
BigBeef gave us the best heart work out we could have asked for.
Back when I was originally leveling my crafters (LTW in particular in this case), I was doing some bulk crafting in Limsa. I just happened to hit lvl70 while working, had a little "huzzah!" to myself and kept working. But of course level ups are published in public chat. A few minutes later, I had a player come up to me, asking if he could trade with me, no context. Quite confused, I exited crafting mode to trade. He traded me brand new HQ primary and secondary LTW tools for lvl70. I offered a flustered but polite refusal, you know "oh, no, you don't have to do this, I'll take care of it later", but he insisted. I asked if I could offer to pay him, and he just said "Just pay it forward".
And to this day, I still have those tools, even though I've long since outleveled them to become a proper pentamelded omnicrafter. I keep them as a reminder of a great moment and how easy it is to do something really nice for a total stranger.
I met my FC co-leader and her husband back in Black Desert Online & Elder Scrolls Online in 2015 when me and her were in the same gaming community "Gaiscioch"; a very old and very large Celtic community were we were put in charge of Officer duties for the Black Desert Online launch.
When Black Desert online was no longer a popular game to play, a lot of us went our separate ways to other games within the gaiscioch community, and when Stormblood launched in 2017; i came back to try this game again; and i bumped into her again; found out she had a FC she and her husband led on my same server, and joined pretty much immediately. They've have become my family and some friends from other games in the past have wandered in as well over time. It's become a family affair; dysfunctional and full of drunken shenanigan's, but very fun.
The people I've met is really the only reason I've stuck it out with this game as long as i have.

To Add on to what I posted earlier, I met this one player back in 2020 while I was playing GTA Online. I had just started playing and didn't really know the ropes of it much or anything and was just doing what I could it was then that I had met I believe through one of the heist or other instance activities, a player that you could say took me under his wing.
He pretty much taught me a lot of the stuff and we did a lot of activities together and with others and basically form a nice group of friends all through 2020 and 2021 just doing heists other things and such he was probably one of the best friends I've had in a while for online gaming. Sadly though he do too real life circumstances as at the moment he just quit gaming in general and is almost never online. However I still keep the crew alive that he had formed and just do my thing on GTA Online ever so often. Just amazing how you can just meet a random person becoming just good friends with them almost overnight.
