Two things can be true at once - FFXIV can be a better balanced game than it's contemporaries while still facing substantive issues with it's job balance.FF14 player: Reeee. Game broken and unbalance
*looks at other mmos and their devs*
Oh. Yes. Soo unbalance. The dev just sooo don't care. FF14 devs don't test their content or are transparent with us. They are not human and creators of the game. Nah. Game broken. Why not just be WoW or insert other balance mmo here....
I critique this because I love the game, not because I hate it and want it to be more like something else.
I'm gonna call bullshit on this line as well. I would bet cash that they changed Trick Attack and Mug purely because NIN would've been fucking laughing during all the Trio mechanics in Thordan I and Thordan II during DSR. Their 1min burst alongside Jobs like DRK would've been slapping the shit outta Thordan harder than they already do. I straight up do not trust Yoshi-P and his Job Design team. The reasons they gave in The Lodestone post suck, and I don't expect them to fix the balance issues. PLD is gonna get their rework in 6.3 to shift them into a 2min burst window, killing off one of the last remaining sustain DPS Jobs; boss hitboxes are gonna continue being the size of the arena; RDM and SMN are gonna continue dealing shit DPS because of how much SE overvalues their raises; and Phys Ranged will continue to remain on life support because SE totally thinks the 1% Role Bonus is a good idea.
Everything related to elemental summons needs to be reworked, and some spells need to be split, it would also be beneficial if the summons were no longer gcds, but ogcds with instant damage,In terms of DPS the raise just tanks your damage. But on the other hand if a Melee bites it you have to raise them because their damage is better then yours.

Like I dunno what getting a new tier of Summons would even do other then have that visual appeal. You still are just a Ruin Mage that got stabbed in the back and you find it difficult to function correctly.
and they will most certainly have to add spell slots, but hey if they already remove physick which is useless, that they merge energydrain/siphon into a mono/50% less aoe spell, that they put ahk morn on astral flow by removing deathflare,
We could already win 3 slots for splitted spells or new spells.
Wouldn't balancing jobs around job difficulty while also placing very tight damage checks on savage bosses imply that some jobs are simply not viable for first few weeks of endgame raiding since they are ''easier'' to play and can't contribute their part?
So why would Yoshida don't simply say that only ''difficult'' jobs are viable for first few weeks of new Savage tier?
For jobs that are considered easy - mch, summoner, dancer, for instance - I would MUCH prefer they get a little higher difficulty & be more balanced with the higher damage jobs.
mch will never be balanced without complete rework, turn him into a semi caster like in pvp with melee combos then maybe he should compete for blm/any melee spot.
It definitely needs something. I loathe my robot queen - there HAS to be a better way to utilize gadgety things. Have it give a buff! Let me order the wretched metal hag around! Anything!
It'd be nice for SOMETHING other than double melee to be viable and common, if only for variety's sake. Besides, the problem was that phys ranged butted the casters out completely so you had two melee two phys ranged.
Unless they left casters so far behind everyone that became unfeasible it wouldn't happen again. No piercing debuff and most jobs can round robin their buffs on each other now.
Not addressing the rather obvious jobs imbalance in that letter seems like a clear mistake, but as I read it again, it occurred to me that what he's really addressing is the way people took the earlier "our team was just too good & we thought you idiots could manage this much." I feel like a lot of this was trying to alter the meaning there, to, "You're all WAY too good - that's why..." I think they may be addressing one problem, while not really accepting the festering reality that so many jobs have right now. Trees, not forest.
