People love to talk about how expensive XIV is. It's not.

As a hobby, gaming is incredibly cheap. You spend almost nothing.

If I buy 2 Lego sets a year, it's more than I spend on XIV, by a long shot. Especially when it's the bigger sets.

Oh yes, because Bugatti's exist and Rick Ross and Drake and all the other prolific rappers and hip hop artists buy them suddenly FFXIV is the cheapest thing in the world.

No, loot crates are terrible, they prey on people and can drain vulnerable people's life savings. No one should be OK with loot crates.
