I love how of everything you listed only one is actually an unfair advantage and it's the first thing. It's like you knew you had to lead with it to have an semblance of a point. You are dismissed"nuh-uh! i'm not cheating! my addons that let me weave more than the game would normally let me, see mechanics coming before they are telegraphed, automate callouts to free up thinking space for whoever would normally be handling them, and place waymarks in impossible ways to provide greater ease of solving mechanics are TOTALLY fair and NOT an advantage over a console player! honest!"
heh ok
So theyre butthurt about waymarks out of bounds through 3rd party tools on ONE fight but not butthurt about waymarks being placed below ground in other duties (making the number/letter sit directly on the ground). ...alright then.
.
100% the right answer. This is the fallout from the devs changing the way the waymarks were added.
They stopped us from being able to do them mid fight, so now people have to set them up before the pull
The arena changes mid fight.
Why TF won't they let us put them were the arena is after the transition?
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
They also made a post about this, and told people to stop. The ones banned were the ones who didn't stop after the post.
Its a difficult position. I don't want this game to open up like WoW and just have addons everywhere for every little thing. I don't want players to feel like that HAVE to have a specific addon in order to do content. At the same time, players are gonna use them so this take of constantly attacking them for using them in mostly harmless manners is just not a good look.
And you know who's at fault of these issues? PS development. Because their dated systems didnt allow PS players to change waymarks during combat, compared to PC players, they cried hard enough till SE decided to restrict everyone from placing markers during combat, creating this problem now.
Thanks SE for being so backwards..

Ya know, if they would reinstate the ability to pick up and re place waymarks mid raid without third party tools again, this stuff wouldn't happen.
I don't think you could ever really allow players to place/remove them mid fight while also preventing third party tools from doing it.
Not unless you add a captcha before each placement (not a serious suggestion).
If a player can do it, a tool can automate it.
I saw somewhere someone suggested allowing the placing of waymarks in battle, but not the removal.
Sounded like a decent way of allowing mid fight placement while still preventing the whole "using markers to plot out an entire fight" kinda tools.
Amazingly, PS players were able to do coil back in the day where we didn't have enough markers to position out every place people needed to go.And you know who's at fault of these issues? We used patterns on the floor. And apparently, there just so happens to be markings on the floor in p7s that perfectly designate where people need to stand! Amazing!
So much outrage over so little....
Hrothgar and Viera have to use 3rd party tools to fix their character models and lack of customization: "I sleep."
Some random dude uses 3rd party tools to cheat waymarks into a fight: "REAL SHT"
Like, I get that ToS violations are ToS violations and thus must be punished, but sometimes they do come across as petty. I personally think there's too much value placed on people beating content with "underhanded methods" when really 1 - We shouldn't have the limitations we currently have on waymarks, and 2 - there's no real competition in FF14 about who clears what. The only competition out there are world-first clears and parses, neither of which are Square's purview.
