I think there are a couple more factors that should be considered when evaluating a speedrun, that I have not seen addressed in this thread:

1. Did you have the SDS Fenris mount (purchasable from Mog Station) ?
   This mount gives substantially increased movement speed before flight is allowed.
2. Did you stay consistantly overgeared,
   (such as by using gear made by an end-game character, or bought using gil therefrom)
   This allows much faster completion of all the fights.
3. Were you on The Road to 80?
   This allows you to stay overleveled (and therefore overgeared) for the content without need to run Duty Finder Roulettes

My spouse and I are currently progressing three alts each through the MSQ on Midgardsormer using the Road to 80, gil and gear from our end-game characters on Faerie, and the SDS Fenrir mount, and the difference between that and the leveling of alts on Faerie we did without the Road to 80 or SDS Fenrir is noticeable. Especially, the SDS Fenrir mount makes a huge difference; best cash shop money we ever spent on a mount.

(Being a team, we are leveling each alt as healer and tank so we can queue as a healer/tank or tank/healer pair, and then are picking up Dancer at level 60 for a free DPS that allows us to easily slaughter our way through non-level sync'd fights. We are not speed-running, per se, tho. Just having fun!)

And you have more control over saving situations than on other classes and wipes not only cost time but there is also a small risk of people getting into arguments/ leaving. But it was interesting to see the differences between classes/ roles.
While I didn't attempt any speedruns, I always leveled a healer while doing MSQ for fastest queue times and more control over the situation and I wasn't locked to playing MSQ at prime time since MSQ trials popped decently fast even at odd hours.

Starting Conjurer is also really good because of Repose.

You can sleep anything getting in the way of your quests, whether it's aggro mobs or FATEs around quest npcs/items that take a while to collect. There's also a surprising amount of fights you can outright skip in ARR MSQ where there's items in a dangerzone that you have to grab but enemies show up once you enter it but you can easily sleep said enemies and grab the items before being on your way.

For the 48 to 50, do you allow yourself things like POTD at all? Would get that done in no time. If not, you could go old school like we did back in the day and FATE farm Northern Thanalan. Also daily Hunts. And Guildhests instead of or mixed in with Leveling since they pop quick and they're quick runs.

I level my characters in pairs. 2 seat chocobo. I split them for instanced content though so takes me longer as I'm doing it all twice, but outdoor content is faster.

But those are specific to that speedrunning community and their intended goals.

Not everyone who speedruns is part of that community or wants to adopt their specific rules. Unless the game itself incorporates a speedrun version, none of it is official. It's just for fun on the individual player's own terms.

OP may not have needed to do anything extra for 48-50 since they didn't limit themselves from using XP bonuses like the Brand New Ring, Heat of Battle buff, etc.

The 46-49/49-50 XP gaps only happen if you avoid all XP bonus sources other than unavoidable rested XP and all side content other than class/job quests. If you're only playing a couple of days a week instead of long hours every day, the rested bonus will cover most if not all the gap. It's something I tested in Shadowbringers.

All of my 4 alts are in the same data center and same fc. All of my alts are level 90 and all of my alts including me, the main, have level 10 island sanctuaries. My friend ask me why I played so many and I replied, Mounts, fae wings ,etc. I crafted fae wings warrior weapon and put the wings on and it is a grand effect. You can also turn on the weapons shiny and then turn on the wings and then activate a dance and it works. Dancing with fae wings attached is a rush.
