So yeah people going "OMG ISLAND LOCKED BEHIND MSQ THAT WILL TAKE FOREVER FOR ALTS"

All of my 4 alts are in the same data center and same fc. All of my alts are level 90 and all of my alts including me, the main, have level 10 island sanctuaries. My friend ask me why I played so many and I replied, Mounts, fae wings ,etc. I crafted fae wings warrior weapon and put the wings on and it is a grand effect. You can also turn on the weapons shiny and then turn on the wings and then activate a dance and it works. Dancing with fae wings attached is a rush.

Good job! There is people saying it takes 6months+ to do it lol. Of course I told them they were wrong as I’ve ran many chars from arr to ew without a story skip as well which none of them took more than a month or two even without progressing every day.

I don’t see how you can do that in a month without skipping cutscenes and a lot of other significant side content, even if one can afford playing several hours per day.

Also, nor the op or these people are wrong: there are many ways to play the game and neither is right or wrong. To each their own. I am about one year in on an alt that I play actively and I just finished 5.0 but I did a lot of side content.

Also by curiosity, I wonder when Op reached level 90 in the story doing a speedrun. Players starting fresh runs but playing “normally” in my fc become over levelled pretty fast.

Surprisingly, it took me over the span of 4-5ish months to complete all 5 characters since I was (of course) playing on-off. Also, thank you!

And you have more control over saving situations than on other classes and wipes not only cost time but there is also a small risk of people getting into arguments/ leaving. But it was interesting to see the differences between classes/ roles.
While I didn't attempt any speedruns, I always leveled a healer while doing MSQ for fastest queue times and more control over the situation and I wasn't locked to playing MSQ at prime time since MSQ trials popped decently fast even at odd hours.

Very true! What I've learned from playing all roles for the first time is to just do your best and ignore/dont respond to negativity. Most of the time it's best to just not say anything at all. As for playtime, around the time I started the Paladin is when I began to play only during peak times during the day (when people got off of work/folks were out of school) and played on weekends to be as efficient as possible.

That's the beauty of basing the speedrun off of /played, so you don't have to no-life it for several hours haha. When it came to hitting 90, I usually hit it around the time of completing the Aitiascope or a bit before/during The Dead Ends. The roughest part about the whole leveling ordeal is when you have to be level 48 and 50 during the ARR stopgates (Castrum/Praetorium) because you have to spam the leveling roulettes 4-6 times which wastes a bunch of time. I have a possible solution for this and I plan on beating this record again but not anytime soon.

That's the beauty of basing the speedrun off of /played, so you don't have to no-life it for several hours haha. When it came to hitting 90, I usually hit it around the time of completing the Aitiascope or a bit before/during The Dead Ends. When I do them I pick up the others jobs along the way to siphon some of the exp into them. Works pretty well up to EW which seemed to not even out as easily. Probably have to test out a few things to see where to spread the exp and where to just get the exp as the main job. Ran into a few spots where I was lacking the level to continue which was unfortunate.

It's pretty telling that all of the DPS are close together and the tank fair better but healing is the fastest by a lot. Kind of like there's a lack of healers so queues are super fast.

I have to wonder if the longer queue time for MNK/NIN is because there are more players who like to play the melee jobs, or if it's only because there are more melee jobs to be leveled compared to the other DPS roles (5 melee versus 3 phys ranged and 3 magic ranged).

Most likely the difference lies elsewhere, op learned some tricks to make a faster run and/or ran at busier times. I don’t notice a difference when I queue melee vs range dps.

They said at one point that the goal is to pair a melee with a ranged, though you can get the same paired depending on who's waiting in queue.

There may not be much overall difference in the individual queue times, but when you're talking about all queues over the course of leveling it can add up.
