    The one thing I was hoping they would add isn’t there. A garden. Before I had a house I wanted to try gardening and cross breeding but couldn’t cause didn’t have a house. Had the Gil but could not get one. So what is 1 thing you can do at player housing you can’t do anywhere else. Garden. Please a at least 1 large garden so players aren’t locked out of gardening.

    Frankly, there's nothing to try and you're not missing much. Cross breeding for the more popular and rarer items takes weeks to over a month (if you start from the very bottom). You have to check on it every day to keep it from wilting. Between my FC and a friend that has me as a tenant, I have 4 plots doing nothing after I got all I needed.

    If you listen carefully when teleporting directly out of a house, given your loading time (mine's pretty long due to distance from the servers), you'll hear the housing district music before ending up at your destination. For example, if I port to Limsa from my FC's house in Shirogane, I'll hear the Shirogane music briefly before "landing" in Limsa. The same goes for my personal house and apartment.

    I wonder if there's something about the nature of interior instances like houses and the island that prevents, or at least makes it very difficult to, directly teleport into and out of them so they have to go through an automated "click the shiny dot" thing to get in and out.

    I assumed that's just that the orchestrion stops running and you return to hearing the background music of the house, which is the same as the outside music.

    The more telling thing (if it happens) might be if you get the "left/entered a sactuary" messages when going from ward to house, and if so, whether you see another set when warping directly out of the house that would represent a return to the ward.

    Same for the island, I guess. Do you get a left/entered sanctuary message that would indicate a return to Moraby before travelling elsewhere?

    So basically turn it into the Garrison from WoW, eliminating social interaction altogether.

    If the teleport out is moving you outside first, my strong suspicion would be that the code to cleanup a dynamic instance happens when you step out of the instance; e.g. if you're the only person in the house, when you leave, they want to clean up that instance and reuse the slot for some other house.

    So if it has to do that, I'd guess that the teleportation code does not trigger normal departure logic -- there's a variety of reasons this could be the case -- and so they shunt you 'out of the house' (to ensure the cleanup code runs, if necessary) and then teleport you.

    (It would probably also be why disconnecting while in a housing interior immediately poofs you back outside, if so.)

    But I'll be honest, I've never actually poked at that part of the game, so I can't say for sure; I load fast enough that I've never noticed an intermediate step between 'teleport out of house' and 'teleport somewhere else'.

    Unquestionably, on the 'into' at the very least. Like I said, I'll spare you all my usual "Pax writes a three-page analysis of How MMOs Work Behind the Scenes to try to explain a thing" word-wall for once, but suffice to say it's not only possible but extremely likely that the teleport system cannot take you anywhere that is dynamically instanced, for a whole bunch of reasons.

    For teleporting out... that's less an "unquestionably", but see above for theory.

    Regardless, it's almost certainly the case that the teleportation system as it stands does not have the ability to take you to a dynamically instanced area, which is why I strongly suspect we'll never have a direct aetheryte to the island... at least not without some significant changes under the hood.

    At this point in XIV's life, I don't think it matters all that much. If you want to be anti-social, you can manage that very easily as it is. Between squadrons and trusts, a decent chunk of content can be run solo. The MSQ is practically all solo. Half the time people treat you like a glorified NPC when you do group up with them in duties and no one says a word. You can hide in out your house/apartment/inn all day long, or you can stay in one of the older cities that are pretty much ghost towns.. I don't think letting people hide out on their island with full amenities would thin the herds that much.

    With that said, I personally would be down with them just adding the summoning bell & MB to the docks.

    I highly doubt that they'll ever add a retainer bell onto the island itself, but one in the drydocks would be nice indeed (and get the 'load in/waiting spot' for IS more up to par with the ones for diadem/eureka/bozja)
    That said, there already is a retainer bell relatively close by on the wolfsden pier, even with a free boat ride both ways

    Tbf, I've had friends who've wanted to send me stuff (like things they need help crafting, or mats or gil they've owed me) while I'm on my island in the middle of something and they're either unable to reach me per MSQ or about to log off and want to send before they forget. That's the kind of thing I'd want Mail for on the island. I also bought some minions to release on my island. Had to leave the island, go to limsa for mail, then go all the way back to the island. Would have been great to just get my delivery straight to my cozy cabin. It's just about the convenience of communication, like email. Of all the things people want on their island, Mail feels like low-hanging fruit to accomplish precisely because it would be low-impact on the system from low use.

    Personally, I don't need an aetheryte on the island, but it would at least be nice to use the Moraby crystal to get there instead of the guy. Treat it just like getting to the Firmament or a Residential Ward.

    Likewise, I like the suggestion to at least add a Summoning Bell at Moraby Drydocks.

    I'll keep insisting we need a Mender on the island though. If the whole point of them is "something to do while you queue", then doesn't it stand to reason I might need some repairs when I get out of a run, before queuing back up for another?
