That sounds like a mod. You can't move with the workshop window open, though there's a spreadsheet for that as well.
Both aren't really needed. Just work to keep a healthy supply of everything as demand changes regularly.
The only thing i really want is to be able to gather more than 1 of the same item every time!

You can keep the material need and stock window open while gathering quite easily with a mouse, but not a controller.

Thinking it over, a lot of the systems within the island seem disjointed. They make a big deal of "visions" in the tutorial and then as soon as you're past those initial goals, they're entirely gone and you can't even set targets for yourself. It seems like it would be so straightforward to have a menu for this, where you go in and select "my vision today is building a level 3 granary" and the list of materials appears on the screen.
The "Furball" mammet seemed like they were going to be a big deal from the beginning, but then they've just stood there without a word ever since I finished the tutorial. And at the same time, the "curious courier" has also been standing there with no purpose except to apparently eventually deliver me a message. Do we really need both of these or can they be rolled into one?

i expected nothing from IS and i'm still disapointed...
This is so boring, gathering the same stuff over and over again for what?
Taking care of your animals takes 10 seconds.
What are you supposed to do once you reach rank 4? You are exp timegated unless you gather stuff for 17 hours a day like those madmen that are already max rank...
They hyped up this stuff so much and this is what we get lol

A lot of people approached this as something you grind hardcore and do exclusively or at least primarily.
Ain't it.
It's been a week, I expect to be rank 10 soon. I don't have any of the blue cowrie rewards cause I saved the chunks from challenges and completion for expansion.
Once I've fully expanded I expect to be able to slot my weeks plans (did you know you can save an entire workshop production daily queue as a preset?) in a couple minutes on monday night, set my gathering to stock up the rares and make sure my stock and currency covers all my automation. This shouldn't take more than an hour a week, potentially spread out over a couple days if necessary.
People who are "stuck" spent their cowries immediately to get rewards quickly. That was the tradeoff. I did not grind excessively, I didn't do anymore than visit and harvest crops and leavings for the last few days.
All in all this content is supposed to be side stuff for a WHILE.. and we're on week 2 with people grousing about how slow it is because they're not capped yet.
.. they barely hyped it. People had theories and went wild but the devs themselves have been bending over backwards trying to temper expectations... yet here you are still.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?

And here I spent 6k the first week on a hair, and am halfway to level 10 regardless. Not stuck. PLUS I missed over TWO DAYS of doing IS, as I didn't even go in until then. If I wanted to start gathering today, I could be 10 within a couple hours realistically. I do think people are approaching this in the wrong way, and had different expectations of the content prior to it's release. The gathering part seems a lot more daunting than it really is. I mean, sure, if you wanted to grind to 10 in like a day, then yeah it was a lot, but spread out it's not really that much. For that matter, I picked up such a variation of resources on the island over the past week, that I have enough mats that I literally don't need to gather for any upgrades or anything else. The only mats I really need to collect, I can do so pretty much passively: animal leavings, and rare mats.A lot of people approached this as something you grind hardcore and do exclusively or at least primarily.

I am making thousands of blue currency a day now, and this is WITHOUT too many rare mats. My pasture and cropland should have their expansions finished by the end of the day, and nearly all of my buildings will be upgraded.

It's tough at times bit instead of spending blue coins just save up until you have enough then go on a spending binge. Im saving my coins til I have enough for my pasture/garden and final upgrades.

Just hit rank 8. Now I need garnets and spruce logs to upgrade my buildings again. Guess I'll see how that goes with tomorrow's expedition reports.
Saving my cowries until I'm done upgrading and expanding, just to keep it moving along. I'm in no rush here.

I think my only real gripe so far is the RNG behind normal animal captures. If I'm using a net in front of a creature, I could see it. I can also understand it being a thing for "rare" spawns. But I think that standing behind a normal creature should be a guaranteed capture.
