My sincerest apologies for not realizing everyone had already done Barbariccia and the Pandaemonium Abyssos raids before the patch went live. I won't make the same mistake again.

What it boils down to, Op, is that people are afraid of failure in this game. They consider even a single wipe the height of offense because their time is precious and most important above all. They have no time or patience for the inexperienced. They go in expecting a smooth, perfect run every time. This has conditioned other people into feeling that they have to explain to everyone that they're not perfect and might mess up. Even on day one.
I say first time even when it's not my first time just for shits and giggles.
Sadly, this is exactly my situation and reason for letting people know I'm the one/one of the ones in the group who are there for the first time or am inexperienced (2nd or 3rd run of new stuff or things I haven't done since the one MSQ run); especially since I main WAR on my alt. I attribute doing this to not encountering nastiness from tryhards or super impatient people. What it boils down to, Op, is that people are afraid of failure in this game. Over the years I have always known this to be said even in FFXI.
I do not see a issue it is just their way of saying they are new and they may feel anxious if they mess up. Also tips are good if they are unsure.
Because lets be honest some people are just idiots and will not be polite to players. We all start somewhere so maybe people should just be nice ^O^

First of all you're not stupid.Do people actually get that upset over content that's been out for barely a week now? That's kinda sad...
Actually do some people still have their sprout icon when they're at 6.2's content?
I guess that makes sense. Maybe I'm just stupid but I feel like people shouldn't expect everyone to have already done the content a week in.
I'll do my best to explain what I have personally witnessed / experienced / my thoughts about it all:
Saying you're new is basically for management of the party's expectations.
I do believe the earliest I have seen someone going "OMG YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW THE MECHANICS YET?" was in one of the Nier raids about 4 hours after the patch dropped.
Unfortunately a lot of people are pretty bad at kind of realizing that other people have other priorities in life other than FFXIV (unlike them). Sometimes Real Life gets in the way, sometimes people just prioritize other things wether it's other content (hello island sanctuary) or other games.
In fact this is 1 part of the eternal problem gamers face regardless of the game they play (the "casual vs hardcore", the "you don't tell me how to play", etc). People just suck at putting themselves in other people's shoes (and the internet surely does not enable or reward that. Quite the opposite).
To compound on this problem there is also the "omg i've figured this out in 1 pull why can't you do the same?" problem. Unfortunately this mindset is far more easily to fall into which then breeds resentment and eventually toxicity. Once again people are different and some people pick some things faster than others.
Unfortunately you're playing with people you don't know so you don't know where their strengths and weakness lie therefore you have no basis to adjust your expectations unlike say.... when you play with a static and you know X person sucks at Y mechanic so you should know to try and be a bit more patient until it'll click for them because it will click, it just needs more time (and sometimes help)
Considering how people are conditioned from other online games to be kind of toxic and how this community in general is averse to confrontation due to the fear of the ban hammer, telling the party that they are new is a low risk way of managing expectations in the hopes of reducing the chance of having people being toxic towards them.
They have realized that nipping the issue in the bud before it festers is usually the safest way to go about it.

Hey OP, I answered you and so did others. Why do you ignore the obvious ones and go after b8? Are you really asking this in good faith? Are you sure you are not here to stir the pot? If you are, 7/10. Nice b8 m8, over 100 posts!
Because some people may have already run it 20 times, and expect you to have done the same nolife they have.

I'm sorry people have forced you into that. I'm far too old now to worry if some kid on the internet gets mad because I didn't see a tell and died.Sadly, this is exactly my situation and reason for letting people know I'm the one/one of the ones in the group who are there for the first time or am inexperienced (2nd or 3rd run of new stuff or things I haven't done since the one MSQ run); especially since I main WAR on my alt. I had to do P7N about 5 times in a row tonight because half the group was new. I loved every second. It was a pleasure to lead by example (we didn't spoil mechs, just did them ourselves) and watch the improvement each time. And they thanked us at the end for our patience. Those impatient people never get to have these rewarding experiences.
