Pointless and Useless
This is actually the lowest bar to set for a healer, so I get a strong feeling that you're having trouble thinking for yourself in this regard, and subscribe yourself to the conformity of the meta healer. The moment a player dies when you are in mid-cast of an offensive spell, you basically failed to fulfill your role. And in terms of optimization, go ahead and take into account the amount of DPS lost each second it takes to get that player back up, along with their reduced damage due to weakness. Even if that player is using a drinking bird, this amount quickly exceeds that oh so important GCD you allocated towards your own damage, or the damage of the healer your giving your comm to for doing what a monkey can do.
Depends what they die to. Not all responsibility is on the healer every time, you have to avoid the bad yourself aswell or atleast eat aoes responsibly. This is actually the lowest bar to set for a healer, so I get a strong feeling that you're having trouble thinking for yourself in this regard, and subscribe yourself to the conformity of the meta healer. I'm curious to know where exactly they mentioned letting someone die for it?This is actually the lowest bar to set for a healer, so I get a strong feeling that you're having trouble thinking for yourself in this regard, and subscribe yourself to the conformity of the meta healer. Because your entire argument, if it can be called that, boils down to interpreting their statement as "just dps, if someone dies it doesn't matter, dps = comm". There is thinking for yourself and then there is jumping to conclusions.
I got 3000 and they didnt update commends in Endwalker so they are thoroughly useless now.
Im sitting at nearly 4200.
Id be nice if we got a 5000/6000 commend award but eh. After the pile of trash that is the lv90 all combat job reward my expectations would be low (how did we got from the Amaro mount to a crummy feather clip on????)
That said I still like getting commends, I got 3 from Alliance on dancer and I didnt do anything like point out mechanics I was just the only teammate who never ate dirt lol.
Often the main reason someone gets comms is simply because they are at top of the commendation list. And since the list is sorted then the comms ends up being given almost exclusively to the tanks.
A lotta times I slap a commend on whoever had the best glam game going.
From my experience tanks and heals tend to get shown the love more. Personally i like the comm system and yeah though i dont often see some extraordinary feat performed to give one out and often look for a sprout tag or maybe a more out going chatty player, maybe a creative name if i havent found anything then will normally toss it to a dps to spread the love.
I'd actually be interested to know how much less commendations would get thrown around if they removed that one challenge log entry (Heh, "challenge").
I'd only give a commendation if someone did something commendable. Obviously doing your job isn't, or at least shouldn't be anything special, although i understand why it would seem that it is considering how often even that is too much to ask.
I always liked it, it's free good boy/girl points to share positive vibes around you weither it's by receiving or giving it.
